We’ve all been there before. You swap to a new soldier in a snap-moment, but you lose because your bot just happens to have little or no ammunition in the magazine. I propose to solve this issue in the following way:
When swapped to, any magazine with less than 1/2 capacity has ammo refilled to 1/2 of a magazine (using reserve ammo), with a 30 second to 1 minute timer on this feature to prevent exploitation.
Example: You swap to a soldier with 10/210 rounds in his SMG with 30 round magazines. The ammunition is increased to 15/205 when you swap to it.
If people believe this would ruin immersion, or disagree with it for any other reason, we could either change bots to automatically reload when ammo is below 1/2 of a magazine to avoid this scenario, or make it something that can be decided by players outside of battle.
Should low Bot ammunition on swap be fixed?

I’m not sure about this suggestion, but I think there should be an indication of bots that are currently low on ammo and some sort of text warning when you switch to such a bot.

I wish they’d reload their weapons after a prolonged period of no engagement, so their magazines are topped off.

If bots reloaded their magazines more regularly, then we would switch to them and find more of their magazines only half full, which IMO would be worse than just switching to one which has one bullet left. In the current system, you get to fix the problem by reloading once, but if they reloaded partial mags, the player couldn’t fix that by reloading again.
I think this should be a setting you can pick: Prioritize having a more full mag when you swap to them, or keeping their spare mags full.

That’s not even how it works. Bots always have an infinite ammo reserve, which is completely out of the player’s reach. They can fire as many magazines as they want. And the first time you switch to them, their ammo reserve will always be full. The only exception is the capacity of the magazine currently in use.
