The Panzer III J1 is kinda disappointing at BR2, so I think it’s about time the tech tree got a slight upgrade.
To better serve the role of a dedicated tank dueler, the Panzer III L trades to J1’s smoke grenades for added 20mm of frontal armor, making it far more resistant to guns at its BR and making it so you don’t have to rely on the pitiful 50mm flat plate of the J1 if you want more firepower.
While serving as an upgrade to the J1, it also doesn’t completely eliminate the benefits of the premium Panzer III M. The M would still have a roof mounted MG, schurtzen, and smoke grenades, making it still a noticeable upgrade to anything you can get in the tech tree.

Panzer III L would force T28 to go for weakspots - considering that T28E has 50mm on paper BUT alot of overlapping armor this seems fair.
That being said, I feel like most other BR2 vehicles have a hard time fighting Panzer III M. BR1 is often hopeless against Panzer III M.
I don’t know, I’d rather see KV1 being nerfed than this being added - its essentially a German KV1 for other BR1 vehicles.

This is nowhere near a KV-1 dawg
70 mm of frontal armor - with some weakspots of course, but BR1 tanks would have no chance.
Definitely not no chance, but BR1 American tanks aren’t even good at their own BR so it doesn’t make a difference. Plus the side armor is still really weak and it still wouldn’t have good HE
