The suggestion is simple, change the order of obtaining the Hei and Otsu type rifles, the Otsu rifle was the worst of the Japanese experiments to emulate the American garand and had magazine variants from 5, 10 and 20 rounds, since it will be changed, the gold order should be modified, since to replace the 5-bullet Hei with a 10-bullet ode, it would be more balanced and the 20-bullet one with its corresponding reduction in shooting speed as it already happens with the 10-bullet one. , the Hei has a more comfortable sight and there are many who have complained about the Otsu, so this change would seem more logical
Otsu is underrated. It truly “slaps” when you get used to it. The speed at which you can fire, combined with minimal recoil means you can double tap targets… at medium range!
1 point something reload is also very nice. Could do with a bigger magazine however…
hell I would even try the Ko more than the Otsu, however I agree with the reload
Yeah the only thing bad about the Type Otsu is the sight picture, other than that it’s better than the Type Hei in every other performance attributes.
Meanwhile: no mondragon, no garand copy…
This statement is debatable, as the Ko was worse according to some sources. The Otsu’s issues come with the reliability of the bolt due to the weakness of the locking system, while the Ko had issues with jamming as it was extracting at high pressure, but the army did not know they needed to lubricate the ammo. Either way yes, the Type Hei was the best of the bunch. However, in game things like reliability and maintenance are not factors, and guns run to perfection without any faults.
None of the Japanese semi-autos currently in game were attempts to emulate the Garand, the Japanese Army had their own reasons for wanting to have a semi-auto program.
Only the Hei had that, the Type Ko had the internal 10 round magazine, and the Type Otsu only ever had the 5 round magazine. No, Hei and Otsu magazines were not interchangable, they were made by two seperate companies.
Even if the Japanese bought several Mondragons for testing, why in the everliving hell would the devs give a rifle they bought for testing instead of ones they produced and used to a limited degree. That would be like giving the Marines a Thompaon Autorifle or a Pederson rifle in Pacific instead of the Johnson rifle. Any way you cut it, these guns make more sense.
Have you ever thought, why i’m telling about mondragon each time(not any other rifle)? As i know, they had ≈ 4000 of them in total, (even koreans had it (idk after or before japanese occupation, but still)). Otherwise I’d suggest Farquhar-Hill or Madsen-Rasmussen rifles

Shisei type hei as a top automatic rifle.
I remember this one have even a shield version
I have wondered that, because nothing I have ever read has ever indicated that Japan used anything of the sort. And as many people can attest to, I have done a fuck ton of reading when it comes to Japanese semi-automatics.
