P-38J needs 500lbs bombs to be a viable alternative to the G version

The main difference between the G and the J version is that the J has an improved cooling, flat bulletproof screens and a bit more power, as well as powered ailerons and more fuel. All of which are mostly irrelevant to Enlisted.

Main armaments and ordnance is the exact same. Overall agility seems the same, but it does feel more sluggish.

Flying it, it does have a bit more power but hardly seems worth it since a upgraded G version would have the same-ish power upgrade, while being substantially cheaper to upgrade than the J version.

So why is it here? It doesn’t provide any kind of substantial upgrade, is waaaaaaay out here and doesn’t have a different or more powerful external ordinances, like the 2x 500lbs bombs it could have.

Compared to a BF-109-G6 that already has a 250KG bomb and boost a greater speed and agility (Without considering the better G-10 Model), the J model just feel flat out stupid.

Well, The P-38 (Both models) are not an alternative to the Bf-109. The P-51 is.

But in general I agree, the G model doesn’t give you any advantages especially considering how far it is in the unlock tree.

even then the p51 isn’t a good alternative with it being armed with only 2 100 pound bombs

100%, the single 250KG bomb of the BF-109 is immensely more powerful than the rickity 100lbs bombs of the P-51.

I’m not sure how exactly agile and speedy the BF-109 is compared to it, but i can only assume it’s mostly on-par, although it’s offensive armaments for both guns and ordnance is arguably much better. G6 has a 20mm cannon and 2x 13mm, all in the nose while the P-51C has 4x .50 on wings.

Sounds like a pretty shitty line-up if you ask me. A P-51D-5 would have been much better, and could easily been given 2x 250 lbs bombs to be on-par with the G-6

yeep and i think the g-6 and 51c are on par when it comes with turning so i don’t know for 100%
