Overhaul of premium squads composition

Alright, we all (well… still a lot of us) still remember the situation with CBT premium squads. But we also remember nerfs that were pretty much overkill as they were reduced to 4 men. This kind of overkill was not requested back then, and time shows this part of nerf needs to be adjusted.

Now, that we are seeing more voices advocating for their full restoration, I believe we need to find a middle ground that would make premium squads more useful/versatile, while keeping P2W CBT mess away from them.

That brings me to my suggestion that is such an attempt.

Premium squads manpower should be restored, BUT composition must reflect their regular squad counterparts. That way premium squads won´t be overpowered cancer again, but they will be more worthwhile and versatile. Such change would help them fit in the game better way.

As result of this change, premium squad would:

  • Receive pre-leveled research tree except “choose from” options, which would allow each player to customize composition to their likings.
Another advantage is the ability to train soldiers withing the squad faster due to the exp bonus.

Ironic because you saying “stop speaking for literally everyone” is trying to speak for literally everyone. I think this is a fine idea, and I wouldn’t mind having to actually level up these squads like normal.

I dont speak for all of you (and especially not you). As I already mentioned in the main post, this thread is more of an attempt to find middle ground between “restore cancer” and “keep it nerfed as it is.”
Also, I would like this to be serious thread. For that reason, keep your weird jokes such as “7 SMGs/LMGs was fine” to yourself. You weren´t the only one who was there and have CBT squads.

I think that they shouldn’t have leveled up the squads 100% in the first place. Every time I go and look at the squads and see the maxed out tree, the maxed out weapons, the maxed out troops, all I see is that there is nothing else for me to progress here, let me go play another squad.

They should have a tech tree with diferent soldier compositions. And we should be able to change their guns.

You use language that makes you sound like you are speaking for everyone.

I agree with this too, I think I made a thread earlier on it. We should be able to switch premium weapons to a non premium squad and vice versa. Of course with the limit being that the guns given in the premium squad are a set number. When I payed for the squads for Moscow, I paid for the weapons more so the generic troops that can’t be customized yet.

If they wont un nerf the premium squads they should just delete them and allow us to use the weapons on regular squads.

And now those unique weapons are locked behind a squad which I don’t normally use because there’s nothing more to level with it.

I agree, I think having them on a squad locked away from the rest was the initial plan before they started to do the Battlepass guns. I think that shows that they can work as interchangeable weapons since the Battlepass weapons are technically premium weapons too.

I really think they should either:

A. Keep the squads, have them be able to level up like a normal squad but have an ability that boosts a stat (like some regular squads do, I believe), and have the weapons interchangeable.

or

B. Remove the squads and allow the weapons to be used and the vehicles transferred to the most relevant squad, I don’t think this one would work as well because the price tag they set would cause annoyance for some.

I also worry that this would mean older premium squads won’t get the same attention that new squads would get. For instance, will they forget about the BA-11 on Moscow when customization comes out for vehicles?

But i paid for the squad and i think it would be a loss because i really like the uniforms, i wouldnt want to loose them :frowning: but the idea of being able to use premium guns with normal squads is amazing and i fully support that

I agree, however, just like @Scav_Sergei said, squads are offering not just guns, but also unique appearance, which I believe is one of the most important thing on premium squad concept as whole (weapons with exp bonus could have been made sellable through the store, but devs wanted to go in direction of whole unique squad). Composition was one of the main factors that made premium squads pain in the ass. So, in current setting, if we just get rid of this issue and make premium squads reflect their regular counterparts, we might be able to solve premium squad problem for good.

Ight, I’ve seen all 5 topics made by the same users that encouraged and replied to each other and since this forum is “public property”, I’ll share my opinion aswell.

In my view, the best solution is this:

  • premium gunner squads: maximum 3 gunners + 4 non-gunners (maximum 7 troopers, 2 engineers, 2 radio operators, 1 sniper, 1 bomber, just like the default gunner squads).

  • premium assaulter squads: maximum 4 assaulters + 3 non-assaulters (maximum 7 troopers, 2 engineers, 2 radio operators, 2 bombers, 1 sniper, 1 gunner, just like the default assaulter squads).

  • premium trooper squads: maximum 9 troopers, 2 engineers, 2 radiomen, 1 sniper, 1 bomber, 1 assaulter, 1 gunner, just like the default trooper squads.

  • premium engineer squads: maximum 6 troopers, 6 engineers, 1 assaulter, 2 bombers, 1 radio operator, just like the default engineer squads.

On top of that, all default soldiers should be level 1, just like the standard squads (or randomly a level II or III soldier for each squad) and the ability to replace said soldiers should be introduced (although the premium weapons should be limited only to said premium squads and the ability to use standard guns should be disabled for: assaulters that are part of premium assault squads, gunners that are part of premium gunner squads, troopers that are part of premium trooper squads and engineers that are part of premium engineer squads).

That would still give a pretty big advantage over players that don’t have said premium squads, because at the moment, everyone is locked to maximum 2 default assaulter squads and 2 default gunner squads (I won’t mention the troopers and engineers because frankly I don’t find them OP).

If the devs decide to introduce a third class for assaulters and gunners, then I have no problem with the restrictions I mentioned above being lifted and all premium squads being treated like standard squads.

Peace out.

P.S. - I feel forced to copy & paste my answer into all 5 topics, so don’t give me hate for it.

If I had the choice, I would much rather prefer my first option rather than the second. I believe that there should be some progression with the squads though because it sucks that the weapons are behind a paywall, and locked to a squad that there is no satisfaction in playing because everything has already been done for you.

I agree, and that is pretty much what I suggested in original post, however, I think that turning base premium squad soldiers into tier 1s (if I understood you correctly) would be too much to chew for players who paid for them. Instead, more reasonable might be just getting rid of pre-leveled stars, aka base premium squad soldiers would be tier 5, but at level 1 (0 stars).

That sounds reasonable.

That is the word we as community need to take into consideration when talking about premium squads. Otherwise devs might get ideas that might very negatively influence the game.

Balancing premium squads is super straight forward,
no one wants a 7 man MG squad where every one of those 7 men is a gunner.
But having less units in your squad in general also makes no sense.

Premium squads should just be:
-same amount of active soldiers
-same type of units in the squad, not more than a comparable f2p squad
-lvl 5 soldiers with same perk access as comparable f2p squads
-unique guns and uniforms without being better than regular equipment
-xp boost

Every thing else makes either no sense, or is difficult to balance or just broken.

I guess original idea (from dev side) was that certain squads were also reduced in manpower, but it didn´t turn out too well in the end.

Of course, it could have been just fixing things the “gaijin way” (yes, I know its Darkflow, its just same practice). In other words, those squads ended up with overkill nerf.
