I agree with your initial suggestion make them shoot more.
Additionally to make them more dangerous/useful they should decrease the time between when a bot sees the player and when he fires at the player. At the moment I can pop out of cover for a full second sometimes more if I’m zig zagging and pick off multiple bots facing towards me. Their reaction time should be halved so they can defend themselves better vs players.
Plus like you mentioned at distance there is no reason they shouldn’t be firing at targets if they’re stationary.
Also distance detection this feels like it was drastically increased from when I first started playing. They should increase that a bit as well.
I think they should do these changes incrementally though and watch for feedback from the player base to make sure it’s in the right spot.
1-copy paste brothers in arms or easy red 2 system a.k.a more complex orders
2-keep orders simple and use more complex ai system that bots can deal with problems by themselves without spesific orders.
This is called behavirol ai, f.e.a.r and some very limiteid number of games use it.
I perdonally prefer second option given that how fast paced game is.
Both of them are miles better then we have now both have their own cons and pros
But biggest fear i think is player backlash.
First choice may lead us complaints like " %90 i just command bots i want to get into fights make bots dumber" bs situation
Second choice my lead us complaints like " bots too op im to noob pls nerf them" like another bs situation …

Lets back to reality:
Devs clearly uncapable of designing proper ai pathfinding let alone designing even more complex enviromental awreness.
All of our suggestions are just wishfull thinking at the end of the day
Fact, but i not talking about making the more Tactical. since this is hardcoded.
i talkiing about the HIT the targuets more often, or shoot more. so they get stronguer. by a firepower point of view.
since hit the targuets is very important in fire fight. it will be enough to make BOT,s realible resource.
remenber, DEV,s should do the right dose. since ALL players don,t want terminators, OR idiots. all the comunity want is Soldiers that are capable of giving some pressure in players.
in my opnion they should be like Dark Souls AI ( you need to fight they very sirius ), OF COURSE a bit weaker. but the point is, you need to be playing sirius and focused to kill bot,s realtive easy. that,s in my opnion is the right ‘‘dificult’’ of the game should have
I am really getting bored of this game because of bots.
This game should be more tactical one. In fact, every player rush to te capture point losing team bots on the way. Any way bots AI should be more trained, so not to be dumb as they are now.
Im going to comment here too, for no good reason at all.
