Opting OUT airplanes (I am not a pilot) - Having one more infantry squad instead?

Hello,

I have been playing this game a lot (past 2+ years) and there is one thing that I do not do.

I do not fly.

I mean at all… I tried on the practice section and I noticed that it is not the same as flying in War Thunder so I do not fly at all.

I am not good at it, I do not like it and I much rather stay on the ground, use tanks and infantry squads instead and get much, much, much more done in that way.

Therefore having this flight squadron on my tab on every nation is nothing but tremendous waste of space on the slots and it would be great if we could opt-out for another infantry squad instead?

I am not asking for another tank squad here, one of those is enough I am asking for any basic infantry squad instead.

I know that flying is something that some players love to do and they would fly all the time if they could so this should not be a problem for anyone that some players would opt-out for one more infantry squad rather than having a plane with a pilot on their menu just sitting there, useless.

I have a ton of planes and level 1 flight squadrons doing nothing, I just take the gun/ medicine/ stuff from the pilots (Strip them naked) and distribute them to my grunts and that is it.

It would not tamper any of the balance either, also it could encourage people who do not know how to fly properly to take more infantry squads instead and that should reduce the pointless “suicide bombing” on the maps.

There are people who fly and then there are people like me who want to keep their boots on the ground in definitively.

I agree that vehicle slots should be opened up to infantry.

I can’t imagine many people would do it, but it would have some niche use when leveling particular squads/if you just don’t use vehicles. And I can’t imagine it being overpowered, it’s just more infantry. Why not.

Exactly.

This would not give power over any other player by any means, only chance to opt-out for NOT flying completely and if someone opts-out to have one more infantry squad then it really does not matter?

It would also benefit the new players because they have hard time in the beginning developing everything from the bottom if they do not need to drag that airplane option with them for absolutely no reason.

For tanks the argument can be made that each player should have option for one vehicle at least, yet the flying part is so difficult that many players dont do it at all. It is totally another game to be on the air anyway.

I appreciate skilled pilots (Air cover when it is done correctly is SWEET…) and those guys who want to play with planes almost exclusively. I get that too, some people really love it and good for them.

It just feels really pointless for me and now that the game is going to have a new upgrading/ development/ progress tree anyway in my case I would not have spent ANY XP on unlocking planes.

I gave this another thought and you are right…

Why not to have the alternatives:

1 plane 1 tank squad or ALL infantry squads.

Or at the very least:

1 tank squad ALL infantry squads.

Bit more freedom to make your own troops in your own army that you are building would not devastate the game balance in this matter at all?

Freedom sells and this current constraint really does not service any purpose.

I can understand this sentiment since i never touch tanks

As I, mentioned for my part it would make sense to have MAX 1 tank and MAX 1 Plane:

As a player you should have the ability to choose ONLY infantry if you want and wave your right to have tanks or planes at all.

Especially now that people have so many event based rewards squads and if they want to buy more squads as premium it would only make sense that you would be allowed to create the kind of troop you like to take to the battle without dragging those things with you.

It would also motivate people to get more premium infantry squads.
