Two equally skilled teams are like 2 per 100 matches. Its completely irrelevant to balance things based on this. Since this scenario never happens anyway.

It’s way worse than current state (where to situation is getting better and better longer you play). Since you can be intentionally put in game where your whole setup is worso than equipment of other people. And you can’t do anything about it until you’ll to top tier.
You’ll be still having situation when your tank will not be able to penetrate anything because you are downtiered.
But when you pick your instantry, you will be still in disadvantages.
People will be still crying because it will be still unbalanced. But it will be way more unfair.
compared to this yes, yet, if you really think "tank balance was never an issue, then why not allow axis to fight only against BT7 while having Tiger tanks. Surely no issue what so ever.

To put it this way, I began playing at moscow long before T-50, ppsh & fedorovs.
Back then tanks could fight each other there were no massive disparity in equipment.
PPd38/40 probably being the only gun that was notably better than any of germut smg.
But back then LMG’s worked much like AR so not much of issue there.
So I got the “easy road”
If I started to play moscow now, id be facing ppsh / fedorovs / T-50 & 34 with nothing but my fist and dick.
The current moscow for example gives great equipment from early levels on to soviets while germuts get the good stuff way beyond lvl 20.
So id say the current situation is way worse as theres no limitations of what you get to play against and combined with the fact that its atleast months of suffering with by far inferior equipment as germut before you get anything even remotely decent.
Aka the germut progress tree is absolute shitshow in moscow not comparable to soviets even in wildest dreams.
Tiers do need a rework thats a no brainer.
But id still rather take my chances against BT7 with pz2 than face T34 with my pz2 which is what we currently have.
Same goes with weapons, id rather fight against ppd’s with my Mp40 and have somewhat fighting chance rather than current situation of getting shot beyond range of mp40 with fedorovs.

Nope, favorized factions on certain BR will be still a thing + people will be quitting matches after they find out they are downtiered. Literally nothing will change. And it’s extremely naive to think so.
I started playing during Autumn last year. I never had problem with equipment balance even as newbie. (Except for Berlin. But during that time allies were dominating there. And I am primarily Axis player)
I still like my suggestion way more than 10 tiers.

You can always go to customs if only reason for your playing is to steamroll bots that option aint going anywhere.

I think that would result in the same problem that we have now, everyone from one faction congregating in their own isolated stomping grounds.

Nah, it takes basically every variety away. Being uptiered/downtiered isn’t any variety. And matches that would include only yout BR will most likely never happen.
