Ok Historical Accuracy peeps - Camo choices

I got some spare gold lying about and want to buy some camos for Normandy, Berlin, Stalingrad and Bulge… I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t go wrong with Stalingrad with any winter camo, but not so sure about Berlin.

On my Jagdpanther in Berlin I have the mixed line camo with dots (Heavy antitank battalion), Lines for Normandy, Bulge (Heavy antitank…) and Stalingrad thinking Waves 2.

That’s just one vehicle, but anyone who has some recommendations (although I do like to be unique, but know dots in Normandy might not be HA).

I need some tips, looking at all factions, mainly winter camos. Not going to spend 1000s of gold lol… will stagger it.

So winter axis stalingrad, what camos authentic? Which Soviet camos?

What about Bulge Axis, Allied tanks?

For the Axis, your actually have a lot of choice, but honestly colourful suits well there.

Panther

You have a lot of great options here, some really colourful ones too.

Here I cobbled some quick options together.

Jagdpanther

This is a weirdly strict one as very very few Jagdpanther were deployed in the battle of the Bulge, almost all belonging to one company, however I do know this is another account stating otherwise as well, so honestly its murky. They were present at least.

Basing off this camo, you can either base it off the recolourisation, or you can base it off the strips pattern. (Since recolourisations have been known to be inaccurate in the past, so judging camo colour based on recolourisation isnt always a great idea, I in this case like my middle option being the green and beige camo.)

Tiger 1

Well Tiger time, these as far as I can tell were painted more conservatively generally speaking, but still had some more colourful options there, though Tiger 1’s were getting rarer by the time of the Bulge.

Hence you have a weird polarisation of options in game.

King Tiger

So this is a fun one, since KT crews were doing loads of different shit.

Now while doing research on this, Ive annoyed myself noticing that the 213 Skin in game is completely wrong and thats very annoying now I know that.

But ofc here, a few options based on the options above.

Jagdpanzer

Pz4/70 / Jagdpanzer Time.

Not a camo, just too funny to not include.

Anyhow, based off these few we get, some options like,

Sadly for the allies, your options are more limited with basically just solid greens or solid whites.

Sherman time

There is really nothing special here.

Like as you can see here, its very simple and easy to pick some options for them.

Thank you, I was wondering what camo is suitable for Berlin, what is more suitable for Normandy or Bulge. (I think what you kindly provided is for Bulge only right? What about Normandy?)

But appreciate the response, I guess I will have to google, did axis tanks use dot camo in Normandy for example.

Yeah that was Bulge only, took a while to find some of the info and went down my own rabbitholes, and had realised I better sleeo before work today now, but I can look into Normandy next, as for Berlin, Hinterhalt is your immediate go to camo for it, however I bet there will be a mix there too.

Well Lets start off here, and unsurprisingly, there is a lot that can be covered here, from Pz3’s to Tigers and everything inbetween. Also I should mention, the germans fucking loved adding bushes to their tanks here, so if you have the, feel more than free to add them were you can.

Pz4 with Short 75 (F1/E)

The Short Barrelled Pz4s were still in service with a lot of normandy units due to its garrasion designation by germans including this beauty here, I think going into this its important to note that in general these tanks were assigned to more reserve or training type units, and as such had less fancy camos, so compared to some of the latter divisions we see, these tanks are quite “boring”.

Anyhow a quick one to start with.

Pz4 with Long 75 (J/H)

Now onto the classic and honestly the workhorse for the Normandy Campaign, the Long barrelled Pz4, a lot pictured are the Pz4 J, though only the H in game as the hull side skirts. (Both variants are near identical visually, its mostly component differences like no electrical turret drive in the Pz4 J.)

So lots of examples to go off here and plenty of choices.

Pz3 (L/M/N)

Pz3 time, woop woop. I want to preface this again, surprisingly difficult to find Normandy accurate pictures of Pz3’s. It is worth mentioning that I only know of references for the Pz3 L’s (Just use hte Pz3M in game) or Pz3 N, so while earlier Pz3’s might exist in a training unit somewhere in Normandy, I dont know of it personally.

I do need to note about this image, this image is mislabelled, it is more likely to be a Pz3 Flametank that was in the Caen sector fighting the british. (However this is still a cool camo so I wanted to include it anyway.)

This might be from Normandy, but I cant confirm this one, I do know the Pz3 N was in Normandy, but I cant confirm if this particular one was.

Anyhow as you might realise here, these were harder to research.

Panther (A/D)

Now we move onto the Big boys, starting with the Panthers, though rarer in Normandy, still present in decent numbers. I will also say, there is more options here, but jsut a quick preview here.

Moving onto the options in game there now.

R05 is actually an accurate Normandy Camo so if you have that, its perfect.

I will finish this off later now, but I gotta go do shit sadly haha.

Looking forwards to more, going out way to show them is brilliant thanks again! Looks like Bulge will be first, or maybe Berlin… I don’t have R05 missed it in boxes today by one (got silver I think!)…

Did you do allied Normandy too, or will you do later?

Ill do it later there, just stuck away from my PC atm, I can do it up in a couple hours time.

Saying generally for allied armour in normandy, its going to be a lot of olive green and not much else, maybe some british bicolour stuff?

Ill look into and see if I can find some more interesting camos you could use.
