On this particular day, I was playing on an Allied team in Normandy. Normandy is known for its bias of highly ranked players toward the Axis side, but this day was an even match.
The game mode is Demolition mode with Allied attacking. The German team was initially defending the object solidly and a back-and-forth battle ensued.
I knew this was going to be an interesting match, and I was stealthily penetrating the flanks and placing rally points, but soon the German team’s resistance began to weaken.
I looked at the scoreboard and saw that most of the higher ranked players on the German team had left the game.
The game then ended quickly and they did not get a chance to play at all.
This was not the only time this happened. On one occasion, I saw eight German soldiers with gold badges running away.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with leaving the game, but it is kind of funny.
Right now Normandy is often in favor of the Germans, but the high ranking players in this army have a high tendency to run away when it is no longer in their favor. The officers flee and all that is left are the foot soldiers and bots.
It’s the irony of war.
Same thing in all campaigns. Same thing for all factions.
I’m positive the trend will change eventually back in favour of allies in Normandy… then change again…
Back and forth. It’s really just what’s trendy to play.
As desertion goes, it’s common to desert when you start a match, look at teams, notice you’re the only “golden” boy in a team vs a stack of 4 plus some more golden boys in the other team.
Sometimes, it’s just pointless.
It also says their dumb rank system hurts the game much more than it helps: it promotes quick desertion as it’s a sure indicator of who plays often vs who plays less. Easier to spot stacks as well.
Axis seem to laugh at Allied players when they call the game unbalanced but cry and rage quit when they can’t get an easy win. Newer players, at least in Normandy seem to be heading towards Allies and seasoned players towards Axis, you can still get decent games but few and far in between. Most often you get wrecked bcs the enemy team has higher level equipment and since you get less points than them in the end you get punished for playing in the loosing team. The game can last as short as 5 min if the team has a stack of sweats with maxed gear.
If the other team is all gold badges and your team is all BOTs and beginners, I can understand why you would feel demotivated.
I would like to make better use of the time that would otherwise be spent on that match.
However, people run away in the middle of the game. It is a great shame that there are gold batches who run away when they feel that the game is one-sided and they cannot torture their opponents.
Maybe I have this aggressive feeling because I am usually beaten up by the Germans in Normandy as the Allied side.
I would like to show respect to the German soldiers who stayed until the end.
btw if you’re looking for a bit better experience in axis vs allies you might want to try out stallingrad, it feels decent in comparison to the other campaigns. Moscow seems to favor russians, normandy is rooting germans, pacific for japan and berlin for russians.
In Stallingrad i had some decent games as both factions, yeah there were the blitzkrieg type of games where one team was clearly better than the other, but most of the matches i played went back and forward with both teams running out of tickets at the same time with the side which had better defensive positions winning, in confrontation it often ended on the middle point stalemate , you could do a little flank or take pot shots at people from afar, which was better than normandy where it’s usually “into the blender you go”.
But to have the best experience in Stallingrad you probably should buy full access. And keep in mind that i migh’ve just been lucky to get only good games as both sides there
Yes. My impression is very similar to your post.
I play on the Allied side in Stalingrad and Pacific as well as Normandy, and Stalingrad is a fun experience with many matches with equally high level users on both teams.
Don’t torture yourself too much. Like I said, it happens in all campaigns. If you take Normandy alone, months ago the situation was mirrored: allies mains were dominating against axis bots because all what they had to do was spam jumbo, which was the best vehicle back then. Still great until some axis vet brings a cat.
Brought the forum meme “skill issue, flank it”
Now those very same allies mains that
either deserted Normandy or whine about balance issue. They’re replaced by axis mains… or WERE allies main before.
More of the same. It’s also the same situation in all other fps where there’s asymmetrical weaponry.
There’s nothing much to do except one thing: enjoy other campaigns, or try other sides. It’s no use torturing yourself when a match is heavily stacked against you: you must play for your own fun. If you only cuss during matches because of the unbalance, you do something wrong, it’s not fun.
