Maybe it’s a placebo effect.
MAYBE it feels like the AI have undergone some serious improvements in this latest patch!
I only played one game in Tunisia, but the AI seemed to really “understand” that they were attacking or defending, whichever was more appropriate.
I loaded up several games in Moscow and Normandy, and I had a harder time figuring out which soldiers were AI and which were not. Even had a really cool moment on Le Bre Invasion where the defending Germans had several squads in the trenches defending the 3rd point. Even AI soldiers were ducking to reload and popping back up to shoot from cover. It was brilliant and so cool to see.
Noticed my own squadmates taking much better cover in the open, and shifting their stance to improve accuracy. Appeared to me like the AI prefer to fire from crouched and prone positions much more.
Anybody else have similar experience? Well done Darkflow, this feels much closer to the “vision” of the game than ever before.
Yes, much better. I also felt like it was much more difficult to tell bots from humans. There’s still a few behaviours that bother me though. Like they simply can’t seem to stand still most times and will try to use the same window or corner you are using.
I noticed that in Berlin too. There were few times when I ambushed enemy squads running in the open and they all reacted with going prone first and then returning fire from that position.
Well, now they need better animations and slight improvements of how frequently (and in which situations) they are laying down and standing up. But they really act much better than before.
But they still dont know to defend the point. Just keep attacking, and leaving the point that just captured to enemies again.
Also they still got distracted too easily. In many situation, human players will run instead of shoot back.
But overall, it’s keep getting better. (except most new maps will get some place that will stuck bots)
One perhaps small thing that makes a bot obvious now is that players are less likely to change directions when they start running while bots can’t seem to decide where they want to go. This actually makes it harder to shoot a bot who might do 3 180 degree turns in the span of 2 seconds.
I’d like bots to mimic players as much as possible and players just don’t seem to spin around ever.
