LAME! They rob people now if I bailed on the garbage match prior but not -20% the luxury of the battle pass being over is not putting up with GARBAGE
Pretty sure it says if you hover over it, or somewhere in game (maybe the matchmaking screen), that if you desert you will not get the bonus for that game and the next join any game

So they are sneak thieves and double penalize people? Shit or get off the pot with the -20 why add more to something the players absolutely hate and is a problem with how poorly they CHOOSE A MAP system operates. IE does nothing.
Listen, i hate the map vote system, it literally does the opposite of what it’s supposed to and/or just doesn’t work at all. I hadn’t had a destruction game in like 12+ games and then got one, realized how much i hate them on both attack and defense, downvoted all destruction maps, and then immediately had 3 out of 4 games destruction.
That said, the playerbase is too small to have deserters all the time, because when more than 1 person leaves, the game snowballs into a one-sided romp, or a 5v5 bot-slaughter, and it isn’t fun. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy, just like no one playing br4 because it’s always uptiered. If people would stick with the games they’re dealt, they could maybe enjoy them as is, with full player lobbies.
They need to fix matchmaking in a big way (br +/- 0 as a start, or at least br1 and br5 isolated from the rest), but I’m fully ok with some punishment for desertion, because desertion ultimately makes the experience worse for other people, until they allow real players to join games in progress, which they’ll never do since everyone is chasing some high score, which they’ll never get if they join 2/3 into a match.
There are tons of flaws with matchmaking and map selection, but a small negative xp penalty is the least they can do to slightly discourage desertion, which affects all players in the match negatively.
