To summarize the new interface I would say: It achieves the same thing, only in a more complicated way. Like you get to doubleclick on a squad to basically get to the old menu to do business and then you get to leave to go to battle. Its nothing but a pointless detour.
But I guess if the devs like it one can get used the the new interface. Its just really not an improvement.
I agree, I find the upgrade tree confusing and not a better version at all. I rather have it as a tree, aka vertical. There are a lot of extra steps it seems, like leveling up your crew of the squads on a separate tab. The new backgrounds are nice I suppose, but overall I do not see the UI as an improvement
it’s weird that they don’t just keep the squad stuff all in one place, makes no sense
would be so much easier to do it all in one place
i have mixed feelings about it.
they kinda made it somewhat more arcady looking and somewhat more appealing ( for those who likes it. i’m somewhere in between ),
but i have to agree it’s not really an improvement in simplification for basic understanding.
( could be that i have been influenced by the older one and got used to, so perhaps i just have to get used to the new one )
it’s hard to tell what’s " wrong " for me, but it would be cool if we could make our own.
not sure how ideal of doable will that be though.
Emphasizing how ugly it is, totally disorganized, checkered and problematic
Yeah, the new interface just feels like they were trying to imitate COD. (That’s not a good thing.)
Especially on the upgrade trees, its much harder to read now. I personally think they should just revert it back for the most part.
The ONLY part that I like is seeing all the event pages displayed on the side at once, so I’m less likely to forget to collect my rewards from the day.
- HOWEVER, I really think that should be solved by making it an auto-collection when you reach the daily goal.
I don’t think its either better nor worse. i do feel it was a waste of devs salaries developing it though. Maybe when the new big update goes live it’ll make more sense?
They needed to rework all those long scroll-down lists for weaponry, soldiers and squads into something more usable, as they’ll be a big pain in the ass after the merge. Maybe use grid or spreadsheet model?
Instead they moved irrelevant pieces around the screen and called it a day.
I just don’t buy the whole “COD-like” argument tho, just looked thru the menus of both games and they are hardly the same. At best the tasks being to the side with the start button is just about it, but that’s hardly a COD thing, all games with daily tasks are generally setup that way.
I can agree that the squad upgrades menus can be worked on a little more (such as coloring of upgraded/un-upgraded, etc) but it is hardly that different. But it just went from vertical to horizontal, the three categories are still there, and it all functions 95% the same. It is even more clear that you can only select one upgrade within a branch.
As for why they separated the squads menu, which does feel like a slight detour, likely had to do with the old main menu having too many functions you could interact with (which could be overbearing for new players) and the UI elements were crowding over the squad view, so you couldn’t really see your soldiers all that well which is something you would want to see if you decked out your soldiers with the best gear and customizations. But it really is all just a guess.
For the most part, most complaints I have been seeing from people (aside from a few great points I have seen across various different posts) have been because it is just new and different, imho. People just have to get used to it again like we did when we first started playing in order to get comfortable with it, which shouldn’t take long.
Useful info is now tiny numbers in a corner, and the actual progression line is barely visible at all.
Old upgrade interface was way simpler to read.
i agree… vertical progression with side info is more natural/comfortable way to get information than horizontal progression tree with side info. not to mention colors dont help.
May I ask such as what?
I don’t think it really needs to be all that large since there is a Progression tab. However, I can agree that it should display the current EXP away for campaigns like it does in the squad progression line when you hover over the EXP bar so you can more quickly see where you stand without having to switch tabs, which is something else that I’ll added to my list.
Number of available upgrade points - tiny number on the top right corner.
No more visual indication that an upgrade tree is fully unlocked - again, that info is now a tiny number (like, 17/17) near the top right corner. What’s worse, it’s only visible after selecting the respective sub-tree.
Maybe I used the wrong term. I didn’t mean the progress bar for the next point, I meant the actual upgrades tree. It used to be a clear path, now it’s a barely visible dotted line, cramped among a pile of stacked icons.
true… i need to stare for a half a minute to actually see if i unlocked everything cause it is unintuitive. in old tree you had that information easily visually available.
overall upgrade tree fails design principles.
Something I considered, might just need something to make it more apparent that a point is available (like a glowing ‘Unlock’ button or something). But I will put it on my list.
This was actually on my list already, but glad you pointed it out. I too miss this feature. I intend on recommending that the icon within the tab becomes golden once completed, and the 17/17 near the corner should be above the corresponding tab so you associate it with that branch.
Ahh I see. I think some of the branches are fine, but others definitely have a wonky shape to them that might need to be looked at. As for the connections, maybe thicker or brighter lines connect each upgrade? I didn’t really have an issue with it personally tho tbh. But icons definitely clash with each other a bit in terms of their color which is another thing already on my list.
The Good news is that tomorrow I will be submitting all the input I have gotten from players and discussions throughout the week tomorrow. That way the devs can take a look at everything and decide themselves, so don’t think any of yall arent heard.
I was referring to one of the older ones, I forget exactly which one (there have been so many). It looks extremely similar to one from a couple years back.
That’s good to hear!
Also note that the unlock upgrades button in the bottom right corner like it is, is far too close and similar to the “buy with enlisted gold” option. At the very least there needs to be color difference. Though I think making the buttons larger would be good also.
Please, where can I find that reward ?

next time directly upload image on forum.
that is stalingrad and without buying stalingrad campaign you cant see and receive some levels. and you cant buy it cause there will be progression rework so they stopped selling it so people dont complain when they lose some of the benefits from stalingrad campaign.
