im fine without that you are the one declaring it was a war crime. at the time it was impossible to know when and if the japanese would surrender. its possible a blockade in time could have worked. or USSR would have invaded before that could happen. the planning for the bombings were made years ago. the soviet invasion of china happened only at the end. no one made there choices in a vacuum everyone believed they were doing the right thing.
more than anything victory in europe and victory in japan were a celebration to the end of hostilities. that civilians and soldiers could put the conflict behind them.
