Due intense discusion you can still see the original post below, but i take the liberty to try civilize things up, here the suggestion 2.0, since the frist one has not much clear.
I really see that we made some progress about armor and uniform cards in all this intense debate, but please guys chill. and please don,t barbecue me has well. hehe.
Cheers.

5% sprint bonus for no body armor, plus 2% spint speed for no helmet. fair? yeah.
don,t take me down i use Body armor, but give some credit to wieght. there a fair and realistic ways of balance armor vs no armor. and one of then is giving speed bonus or speed reduction for armored infantry.
So my 10 round semi gets turned effectively into a 5 round rifle AKA why dont you just use a bolt action rifle instead…
Well but with dispersion, recoil or just lag my second shot might not always connect with the target if the target isnt just standing still waiting to be shot
Do I really have to tell you to keep pulling the trigger until the target drops? Normal people in this game do that without complaining. In the 5-6 years of me playing this game, I’ve never had an issue with fighting the soviets because of armour/vitality.
Then go play with the nagant revolver instead. It is in no way underpowered.
You just have to keep pulling the trigger until the target drops.
That soundy like great logic to me…
I actually like this idea but the argument with that is how will it be purchased? If for silver then it becomes way more common which all the coping whiners will complain about even more. At least appearance orders are somewhat harder to obtain.
Dont underestimate the importance of total ammo, people have been quite vocal about that in the past.
That being said, the flat damage reduction should get reworked so that the armor only protects the front torso, only has an effect against pistol rounds and doesn’t influence rifle rounds at all.
If we go the extra mile in realism several approaches can make sense.
First, arguably those plates could survive multiple SMG or pistol hits without the target taking any damage - depending on bullet velocity and distance of course. This would be a very big balance issue obviously and as such body armor should come with reasonable penalties.
Maybe crouching could be made much slower, cuz armor can make it very awkward changing position.
Maybe armor could actually give an ADS speed penalty or even a recoil penalty - while those plates do have a “cut out” for shouldering a gun, it still restricts rifle positioning a bit.
Ammo could get limited of course as said above.
And about movement penalties… I personally wouldn’t reduce sprint speed, but rather general movement speed, to make the armor feel a bit sluggish during fighting.
Or instead of going full crazy, we just give armor a simple 10% movement speed penalty and call it a day.
