A bit of background - I don’t play FPS games - I’ve been a wargamer for almost 50 years (yeah I’m old!), and computer gaming mainly historical strategy prior to War Thunder - been playing WT for 5 years. Bought my first computer game in 1983 - Knights of the Desert by SSI - it was crap even back then!
I played a few FPS’s back in the 90’s - Delta Force was a revelation - lots of RPGS, but nothing much this century.
The thing that irks me the most about Enlisted is the manic prancing around of bots - it’s just awful!
I’ve learned to set the bots to defend a point and then just take a single soldier into the actual battle, then get another one when he gets killed. But even so they’re all jumping in and out of trenches, standing up, lying down, looking his way and that and getting themselves killed like the idiots they are.
I see many news articles & threads about improving bot behaviour and I sure hope they keep doing so!
One thing that took me wayyyy to long to figure out: if you move too far from your squad it will cancel their orders and they rally to you. You get a short, tiny message about it that I normally miss.
So if you ever wonder why your squad just died trying to cross a road to get to you, that’s probably why.
They stay put if you leave them on the cap point. They still act very dumb, destroy immersion and get harvested by players - with grenades and sometimes even with knives.
Yeah I learned about cancelled orders, and mostly give them an updated one that looks like it has cover - a small gully, trench or “behind” a building.
you’d think if the AI could keep them sane on a cap point then there’d be not too much more required to do so anywhere.
Hi! First of all, we appreciate you taking the time to let us know how you feel on the forum! I would like you to know that bots have been improved drastically since tests last year. Since this is a big part of the game - without a doubt I can say - bot’s will continue to be improved in their mechanics and intelligence.
Hi. Any info on having range be a factor in aggro gain speed for bots?
As I think that is the main thing holding the bots back rn.
They aggro too quickly at long range,
but not fast enough at short range.
