New Western Front map? Or steel mill rework?

Right when the anti-aircraft vehicle pre-order bundle dropped, forum staff posted this picture. It looks just like the lakeside area near the steel mill in Normandy with all the trees cleared out.
To be honest, I’m really tired of this. Enlisted has far too many reused assets. I just can’t buy that there are only these few types of buildings and steel mill layouts across the entire Western Front in Europe.

The previous teaser for the Manchuria map only showed an insignificant corner of the area, and this new picture doesn’t reveal anything meaningful either. It’s clear they’re just going to reuse old resources again.

If this is meant to be a brand-new map, it only shows that the map developers at DF are just lazy patchworkers resting on their laurels with almost no actual original development work done. War Thunder has dozens of completely distinct unique maps, yet this game still keeps piecing everything together using elements from its original six maps. It’s really annoying.

I really wish artillery shells and TNT could blow up utility poles and trucks, instead of us only being able to destroy them by running them over with tanks.

The only new map assets DF made last time were a few signboards and freezing earthen houses in the Heilongjiang-themed area.

It’s basically just Eastern Front assets repurposed for Burma, totally half-hearted. Many local players have pointed out plenty of obvious historical flaws and unreasonable details.

How many people are actually on DF’s map development team? I’m totally fed up with seeing the same stuff all the time.

Usually, a new map is somehow related to the theme of the pre-order pack. Judging by the Canadian SPAA, it could be the Netherlands in 1945.

If the Ball Lightning IV anti-aircraft vehicle was indeed a product of 1944, then this battle must have taken place in France, and based on the distribution of trees and roads, it must have been the Battle of Falaise. However, the absence of Axis vehicle wreckage on the roads is somewhat disappointing

Chinese underage brat, if you keep complaining, then create your own third-party maps and provide them to Enlisted official site, instead of whining like an old woman here.

New Map? Very good, glad to see the devs not abandoning their game.

Doesnt look very impressive all things considered.
Maybe it would be impressive if it would show something interesting.

Also, Western front already has more than enough maps without considering Bulge and even then, a West-German map such as a Rhine city or Hürtgen would have been much better than rural or suburban France yet again.
Meanwhile, Pacific still has the same 3-4 maps most people dont even like (not counting Burma since its technically a different front).
Stalingrad only has two maps, not sure when the Factory Map was released but I think it was back when we still had campaigns. Had to merge it with Rzhev to fill the blanks.
Berlin still misses the Reichstag and Flaktower battles, but at least got the Forrest Map (still feels like new Berlin maps now are anywhere but Berlin).

There are already tons of community maps and modes, but the devs dont use them.
They even stopped promoting them for a while now.

So not sure what this sick burn should prove here.

However, if no new map assets are added, the excitement over fresh maps will quickly fade into weariness toward reused old content.

Arnheim? Villers Bocage? hmmm there are quite some more Iconic western front settings for future maps…

then again, there are like 3 times more eastern front maps and cities that could get introduced.

Anyways, I would like some more Normady maps that aren’t super thick with trees - a more open map that allow vehicles to manoeuvre freely.

Yeah. I think they should add more bunkers and features like the Siegfried Line on the Western Front. It would be great to see new anti-tank concrete barriers, bunkers fitted with Panther or Panzer IV turrets, or machine gun emplacements with gun shields similar to those on the Sd.Kfz. 1. Right now, I’m really tired of seeing the same café-style buildings, Normandy-style structures and farm tools identical to those on the Moscow map over and over again.

As for the 88mm anti-aircraft guns on the ground, just set up dedicated emplacements with three 88mm cannons for players to use directly. It would save a lot of hassle. These objects are nearly indestructible and severely block tank movement, and regular shells can’t destroy them at all.
Trees themselves are fine. The real issue is that even small saplings can block vehicles. Slightly thicker trees can’t be destroyed by small arms, and large trees are impervious to artillery shells. It’s a major problem that all kinds of vegetation can’t be taken out with regular bullets and cannons.

I believe Enlisted’s official team would be happy to accept suggestions to create accurate maps that reflect the historical battles of World War II. However, Chinese children tend to prefer imaginative interpretations of WWII history, so it’s clear that the Enlisted development team will not choose a false or unrealistic map design.

Community maps existed before the

came to Enlisted (or you).
But the still didnt add “historical” maps to the main game.

No, if third-party players are willing to use historical photos and WWII military maps to create detailed designs of Enlisted’s historical battles, I believe the Enlisted team would not reject this proposal, rather than simply copying, pasting, heavily modifying, or arbitrarily altering them.

Le Bra is just Colleville renamed for some reason and the beach nearby is the infamous D-Day map, which is Omaha Beach.
And Omaha Beach and D-Day do not look similar at all. The real beach is much longer and wide and there were less sand hills etc. on the beach.

and even the “compact” parts with ramps looks totally different from the game.

The only somewhat historical maps are Stalingrad and the Berlin maps, the Seelow Heights maps are a different story though.
The new Far East maps were so lazily made that they mostly reused assets from Moscow and Burma (yes, there were Russian buildings but Harbin had many unique buildings, which are mostly missing).
In short, Enlisted maps are for the most part inspired from real-world locations but are more often than not not really accurate, mostly for balance or engine reasons (or because they outsource it to random freelancers).
And Harbin is far smaller than it was in real life.

Harbin used to have a population of 700.000 yet the ingame town is smaller than my 60.000 village. There are no buildings close to the river and no buildings south of it as well and map is overall pretty empty.

Don’t worry about these minor issues. Enlisted’s map development team will carefully modify every historical detail in the future; it’s just a small change in one version update.

So devs can release unfinished maps but community maps must have higher standards for some reason?

If third-party players could join Enlisted’s map development team, I believe these problems you mentioned wouldn’t be issues. Of course, Enlisted currently has limited operating funds, and players need to contribute their passion.
