With the latest event, there are a lot of complaints on .303 Lewis gun - despite being the most common version of the weapon historically, it is an event weapon that can only be acquired in one piece per player.
To make such weapons have exclusivity, yet be accessible in reasonable quantities, I suggest to make some events unlock a certain gun for researching and purchasing via the tech tree. Weapons of such kind may be placed in a separate folder in the end of the tree, which seems easier to implement than displaying a weapon somewhere in the tree, but only if the player has access.
Beside events, the unlocks can also be added as a separate reward category to the Veteran Box for new players to acquire it later.

Best idea I’ve heard in a while.
Thanks, Adolf.
I think tech tree additions shouldn’t be limited to major updates, for example we should get tech adtions in small updates, then the Devs should add stuff when it’s ready not when the deadline is due.
Honestly, kind of a genius idea, Id love to see it, one small gripe though.
Lets not normalise calling it that, its a Lewis gun, adding the .303 is redundant and borderline offensive.
Yes, I thought about it a few months ago, including something similar to what Call of Duty: Warzone does with something called "The Armory”
Where everything you don’t get from an event can be unlocked if you reach a certain amount of XP by playing normal matches. (This amount of XP is incredibly high.)
