New proper BR3 ground attack plane for Japan

USSR, Germany and USA all have good ground attack plane options on BR3:
IL-2 37/type 3, Pe 2-31/3, A-20 Boston, Bf 110 C-7/F-2, Ju-87 D-3, P-38 E/J-15.

Meanwhile, Japan is stuck with the only option being D4Y1, which also feels much weaker than every other faction’s counterparts:

  • 1x500kg bomb
  • 3x7.7mm MGs

Armament-wise, it’s very close to BR2 Ju 87 R-2 with 1x500kg bomb and 3x7.92 MGs.

If we judge by WT RB BRs, D4Y1 ais also ranked weaker than most of those counterparts:

  • D4Y1 – 2.0
  • IL-2M type 3 – 3.3
  • IL-2-37 – 2.3
  • Pe-2-31 – 3.3
  • Bf 110 C-7 - 2.7
  • P-38J-15 - 4.3

We know that WT BRs are not exactly Enlisted BRs, but still D4Y1 is ranked the lowest.

Not to mention that, as always, Soviet/German/American player can spend the whole match rotating BR3 ground attack planes non-stop, while Japanese players are stuck with just one squad/plane.

So, naturally, the correct way to add new vehicles would be adding them with new squads.

Proposed options from WT

Aircraft Name Role WT BR Key Advantages Weapon Loadout (WT)
Kawasaki Ki-45 Hei Universal Heavy Attacker (Bf 110 analogue) 2.3 Nose cannon for strafing infantry and tank roofs. High survivability. 1x 37mm Ho-203 cannon, 2x 20mm Ho-5 cannons, 2x 250kg bombs
Nakajima B6N2 Mod 12 Heavy Tactical Bomber (A-20 / Pe-2 analogue) 2.3 Massive 800kg bomb to clear capture points and destroy US armor. 1x 7.7mm offensive MG, 1x 7.7mm defensive MG, 1x 800kg Type 99 bomb
Aichi B7A2 Elite Fighter-Bomber (Ultimate Meta Attacker) 3.7 Out-turns US fighters. Combines 20mm cannons with an 800kg bomb. 2x 20mm Type 99 Model 2 cannons, 1x 7.92mm defensive MG, 1x 800kg bomb

That’s the only good option for BR III. The other two are more of a BR II.

Maybe another option?
A Japanese Bomber for BR2 or BR3 Kawasaki Ki-48 - Suggestions / Vehicles - Enlisted — official forum

The solution to imbalance isn’t to add something way more powerful than the rest.

How this thing is more powerful then the rest ?

I don’t know, maybe the fact it has an oversized bomb, and can as OP describe out turn fighters?

Although… 2x medium size bomb could in most cases be better than one big one… but on Japan it’s not so bad as they are mostly open fields at least in pacific

Well we dont need to give it 800 kg nuke 2x250 kg bombs are enough. When you have a XA-38 and Mosquito FB Mk VI how this thing will be better ?

Comparing tech tree to premium and an overpowered event plane???

2 250kg I’d be fine with, OP said 1 800kg.

Allies don’t have TT BR III ground attacker also so they can receive something of the same level. Between 3,5 and 4 battle rating is ok for BR III.

I agree

Maybe the Allies could get a Bristol Beaufort?
For BR3.

D4Y1 “Am I a joke to you?”

Yes its a joke more of a BR II plane then BR III.

Well it wont be good atleast something like Beaufighter with bombs for BR III or SB2C-4.

Most of the time you guys are using it wrong don’t surprised when you try to use a scalpel like a sledgehammer and it doesn’t work.

Yeah sure maybe you like observation planes and balloons and you love enjoying the views but that’s a war game and without heavy machine guns or cannons a ground attacker is not exactly good you know

Why don’t you have the D4Y3 as option??

With 3 x 250kg bombs it becomes a decent CAS plane

Sure, why not.

I am not exactly an expert on WW2 Japanese aircraft so there’s a chance I omitted something.

No need its not much better then D4Y1 since it has same bad guns.

you think 3 x 250kg isn’t better than 1 x 500kg?

How peculiar…

Well there is a stuka in BR III you know with 3 x250 kg bombs its not very popular… but why would I listen to a person that already voted no.
