New OBT player, 12 hour EA review

Hello, I have been playing in the Open Beta since day 2 of the OBT launch and have put in at least 12 hours of game time since then.

  1. This game is addicting, and I love the squads idea combining AI and players. The AI do need some serious work and I am quite certain that is going to come over time, just a fact, unless we are talking about the worst case of developmental incompetence in gaming history.

  2. Progression is certainly “grindy” but what PvP FPS game does not have some kind of grind system to get gear and loot, it just adds easy replayability. On this note I think all classes should come in the first 3 ranks of campaign with just the most basic rank of units just to kind of even out the playing field and let people get used to what specializations they might be best attuned for.

  3. Game modes - This game has a Heroes and Generals feel to the game modes (outside of the generals mode). I think it would be neat to expand those assault/defend maps similar to how Rising Storm 1 did it, where you can fight a drop in / drop out campaign and get rewards at the end of each battle and based on what you contributed to the battles you would get an equivalent bonus at the end of the campaign.

Let me elaborate: Lets say you only have time for 1 match but you prefer campaign game play, no problem, play the match, get the match rewards, and later when you log back in if the campaign is finished based on what you contributed to that campaign will be the bonus rewards you receive at the end. This way it stops people from losing out by not being able to just play through a campaign series, and it stop people from abusing the campaign to get extra rewards and ditch letting everyone else do the heavy lifting, its all based on your contribution(s) to that campaign.

This game is not yet ready for prime time (hence OBT), however this game has VERY HIGH POTENTIAL to become as big if not bigger than War Thunder itself. The only thing that can kill this game is P2W (Pay 2 Win) mechanics, so please keep them out of this game at all costs, do not go the way of other F2P titles.

I agree mostly but about this one I am also the bad guy who has to say: Publisher, developer has to pay rents, living costs and server maintenance costs. May a subscription model with a buy to save time or something like this could lower the pay2win elements. I hope they find a good way in the future to balance pay2win without going bankrupt.
