Hi everyone! I’ve been thinking about this after playing with different loadout sets regarding backpacks and I think they’re an equipment piece that can be expanded, more specifically, on the build variety.
The current 3 types of backpacks (ammo pouches, grenade pouches and tools) are good on their own and allow soldiers to specialize in whatever the user wants them to be. I usually run grenade pouches on soldiers because storming a point with grenades is extremely fun and it’s chaos incarnate.
But I’ve felt that sometimes we could have a little bit more of variety, instead of specializing completely into one niche.
And that’s when I thought about multislot backpacks. These would work like this:
There will be 3 types: ammo and grenades, grenades and tools, ammo and tools
They will be unlocked after completing tier I research.
To balance them out, there will be no backpack that grants 2 grenades and the ammo equivalent of a large ammo pouch, for example. Just have them give the small equivalent of each one. And well, not having a backpack that gives you one slot and ammo in each category, since that would outclass the rest.
What do you think? Do you think this would expand on build variety for soldiers?
Makes sense. However, it all depends on the situation that you may find yourself in, sometimes I’ve had times in which my squad got wiped by a tank out of the blue, and in the rare cases that a soldier managed to live, either he didn’t have the nade I was looking for, or was holding a different backpack item.
It would be for the sake of convenience, and having tools at your disposal.
I had a very similar idea to this that actually works better. Just allow small backpacks to have two equippable at the same time. And buffing the small ammo pouch
That would be ideal if they did that. Although, since they’ve changed the pouches to use historical names, I’m guessing someone who likes historical authenticity wants these options available, instead of giving the small pouches more slots.
Buut… in reality soldiers would stuff anything that they could on their pockets… so it’s up to debate really.
