New Mechanic for real BR V Mortars

Mortars that we have at BR V should really be at BR III…
The future BR V mortars should be of 4 inch caliber roughly weighing between 100-200kg with at least 1.15kg TNT explosive power.

Obviously these mortars are too heavy to carry around and so if we ever want to get a proper BR V mortar squad that is powerful and people actually use it… they need to be these more powerful mortars that are too heavy to carry.

This is why I’m Proposing a NEW MECHANIC and possibly even a New Class - Heavy Mortar Squad

Just like an engineer has to built structures… the Mortar squad will also have to build and deploy the Mortar since these late BR Mortars are too heavy to carry around.

Unlike AT guns which have scale-able calibers with BR, I don’t think there’s any way to lock Heavy Mortars since they’re just a single object like Heavy Machine Guns

That just means that they’ll be buildable in all BRs

Could be new class Heavy Mortar Squad
Only they will have access to these 100kg+ Mortars.

But that goes against the point of squad classes having unique buildings like Machine Guns with HMGs, AT with AT guns, Flamethrowers with fire launchers, etc

The Mortar squad MUST have Heavy Mortars as their building

yeah that would be the new mechanic, they build the heavy mortar

I mean default Mortars as now, the one and only Mortar squad

the light mortar squad wouldnt have access to the heavy mortar building mechanic

They would as every MG squad can build HMGs and Flamethrowers flame launchers. It is what it is :man_shrugging:

I’m only supporting this if Japan gets a second mortar before all this. They still have lots of options.

I also think the best way to do this is just use Mortarman II, restrict the heavy mortar to the weapon and not the squad.

In my mind it would work with 2 mortarman, 1 engineer/Assaulter/Sniper, 1 radio op/AT gunner/Assaulter, and a radio op/machine gunner/engineer. On top of a rifleman. Making it a 6 man squad that can meet the same criteria as the Mortarman I squad in terms of size but with a slightly different composition.

That’s just my take on it the squad can honestly be anything, I’m more after the fact we get another squad and more mortars.

Downgrade all mortars above BR I to BR III (from IV/V) and release 4 new mortars at BR V one for each faction. That’s the start.

It’s not like dev couldn’t implement new mechanic for this. If they could implement mechanic to change at gun base on br, I don’t see how they couldn’t restrict heavy mortar to a certain br.

But doesn’t that defeat the principle of all classes have a unique building. Scaling AT guns make sense because armor is a significant factor that evolved during the war

We have HMGs, we have ampulomets, why is a heavy mortar controversial?

They’d might as well have to restrict HMGs, ampulomets, and who knows what else. Infantry Support Guns, Automatic Cannons, idk other ideas

I don’t see how restricting it to certain br violate your so called “principle”. You can still build it on certain br. If you really want building for lower br how about suggest emplacement version of current mortars.

Scaling explosive also make sense in game.

It is a powerful weapon that can hide in the grey zone and you can’t even see where it is. The only way to counter it is by entering the grey zone and search it using guerilla or saboteur. Such process waste a lot of time and unfriendly to f2p players due to the lack of squad slot.
