I think, maybe later its possible to allow engineers to repair friendly vehicles. To be honest, tanks are very vulnerable at the moment. Infantries have so many ways to destroy a tank while a HE round sometimes kills enemy only when it directly hit the target. For example, a T34 sometimes couldnt pen a Tiger, but a panzerfaust could easily destroy a Tiger from its front armor. And almost every player holds a HE pack now. Tank crews need to take high risks to get out of the tank to repair it. It would be better to call friendly engineers for a repairment.

Anyone can repair friendly vehicles as long as you have tools with you.

Also, unless you are literally observing what your tanks are doing, you can´t really tell how much damaged they are, or repair them before they are taken out.

Also, as for tank HE… it really depends on type of the tank. Explosions are really weird in this game, but you can´t really expect HE with only pitiful explosive filler do much damage.

You can do this already, just have a tool kit

Thank you! I mean, with their hammer~

Good tankers stick close enough to inf.

Depends. The 45er or 37er HE shells are not impressive… as they should be. 75mm+, partly even Pumas 50mm, is okay though.

You can already do this, just equip “Tools”. Considering the amount of damage a tank can cause it makes sense for them to take high risks in repairing their tank from the outside.

And maybe there should be a key you can press to see if anyone needs repairs so it won’t clutter up your UI.

I tend to always have one engineer squad with a large backpack and toolkits. I know the importance of having my friendly tanks in action at all times, so I make sure I can assist them with that whenever possible.

i ill for sure do a squad one day with toolkits only to keep my tanks alive more and more.
i usually abandon them when i only have 1 crew left after a long period of playing with them.

having the option to drive the tank to a safe place where the tank cant be shooted and destroyed by a bullet (spawn) and swap the soldiers to a fresh crew was always on the back of my mind to do.

either way, have this cool gif :

This raises a point that it’d be neat if you could see how damaged a friendly tank was.

I personally give ALL my engineers a medkit and toolkit. I also give my engineers axes/shovels, TNT and even AT mines. I could do these with any troop but by putting them on engineers I know who can repair tanks and other engineering type stuff.

My assaulters get the AT mines because they’re up front where I can make a good guess as to where the enemy tank may go. Though I restrict it to just the first two guys because it’d be kind of OP to have over a half dozen placed

Given that tanks can be repaired externally by friendly troops, perhaps it would be good if Gaijin implemented a marker above a damaged tank. They don’t need to give any info about the nature of the damage, just the fact that the tank may benefit from repairs is enough, and then friendly folks with tools can earn some more XP or other benefits for supporting their armour.
