New features suggestion - playing fully upgraded squads and 'finished' campaigns

Hi!

I would like to present my ideas to keep those players who reached the maximum campaign level motivated and still feel rewarded for playing the same side.

CAMPAIGN

Currently when we reach the max level for a side in a campaign there isn’t much motivation and feeling of accomplishment to keep it playing - aside from maxing out soldier ranks. Probably most of us jumping to other campaigns or swapping sides, seeking the feeling of progression trough the levels. On the other hand, there are players who find it less important and would like to still feel rewarded when playing at max level to enjoy the highest tier troops, vehicles and squads unlocked by hard ‘work’ trough a long grind. Seeing the XP gains at the end of a match gives a good feeling, but knowing it your performance won’t be rewarded in any form because the additional XP at max level is lost: is very disappointing.
This can affect the player’s thinking and performance, raising the question: Why should I perform well? It s for nothing at this point other than personal enjoyment. It contributes to others’ gameplay experience in a negative way.

My suggestion to make a maxed level campaign worthy playing and give the players the feel of progression is to implement a system that is similar to the one when we finish the battle pass. With some tweaks and extras.

The idea introduces the Military Ranks to the game.

Upon reaching the currently available max level in a campaign, the player would be promoted to the lowest rank: Private. Players could still earn experience from battles to progress trough the ranking ladder. This would keep extra XP earned for Premium Accounts still useful.
This would be a great opportunity to make the initial campaign less grindy, reducing the XP needed to unlock squads and equipment. It could be a trade off, to make players have the satisfaction of progressing faster, having more joy playing than in the current state. But they would still go for the ranks and thus keep grinding, 'cause lets admit: we love cosmetics and customisation.

Example: When we unlock everything and stop earning XP at level 29 in Normandy, we get promoted and the rank’s insignia would be displayed instead of level. The XP bar would show the required XP for the next promotion.
There could be additional achievements for reaching given ranks with minor rewards and/or cosmetics later on. Ranks could be displayed on the soldiers’ uniforms and on the scoreboard next to their names. In addition, there would be an option to display these ranks on the kill feed and on the chat. Maybe next to the names if name plates will be implemented further down on the development road.
On the chat and feed it would look like: CPL. #player FG42 Col. #enemy or SGT. #player or the abbreviations could be replaced by the icon of the insignia.

SQUADS

It is basically the same situation. There is no real incentive to play certain squads after you max them out. We lose the feel of progression and the satisfaction elements. And it is no rewarding to play a maxed squad instead of one that you didn’t maxed out yet. Not much even to level certain soldier types, because many squads can field a radioman or other classes once upgraded. Plus later on, players will get to the point when all of these squads will be maxed.

Idea is to let us keep earning XP above the squads max level. But reward us with cards instead of upgrade points when we play a fully upgraded squad. The XP needed for this additional reward could be a set amount. So both low tier squads and higher tier squads have to get the same amount to earn a card. If this can’t be an option, lower tier or early unlocked squads should earn bronze cards, higher tier squads which are unlocked much later in the campaign could earn a silver card.

I know there are different squads with different max levels, this can make the idea harder to implement in a balanced state. Unfortunately I can’t come up with a solution to thus right now.

Thanks for reading and feel free to leave some feedback if you could improve on something.

Additonally - to raise motivation to play squads - let them earn medals - and make them visible!
The existiong rank system of the soldiers should be improved towards real rank badeges as well.

Camoullage patters on uniforms an tanks - can be more flexible - player should be able to select predefined camouflage for soldiers - e.g. can be acivated with specific ranks.

AND VERY IMPORTANT - LOWER the prices for equipment and special squads - it is TOO EXPENSIVE!!!

And lots of us played CoD for years without any progression. It felt satisfying to constantly improve your skills which in other words was progression on it’s own, and not to grind endlessly…

You didn’t state it that way but we will reach a point where next gun to implement in campaigns like Moscow is AK47 because of “isn’t much motivation and feeling of accomplishment”

Isn’t having fun the main point of all of this?

I feel really satisfied, even if we lost:

Don’t get me wrong, your ideas about customization/cosmetics are good, I am just commenting on your “motivation and feeling of accomplishment” point of view.

My advice to you is not to use premium account, your “accomplishment” feeling will at last much much longer.

All other suggestions are good. Playing to get customization points, medals, different historical camouflage and so on so +1 from me.

I know, I’ve played the very first CoDs and even Medal of Honor titles without all the modern ‘progression systems’ or elements. Times have changed - everyone decide himself it is for the better or worse.
On its own, improving ourselves is satisfying, I agree. Especially when that is your goal to accomplish.
From this POV, the grind is a positive thing - I would even call it practice in this case. The ranking system could keep the maxed out players grinding for the rewards instead - if obtaining them is their goal. If they want a specific rank, they can obtain it. Playing the campaign longer, indirectly improving themselves, providing more human players to that campaign.
Would it be necessary? Absolutely not. I wouldn’t feel forced or pressured to go for the rewards, knowing it is just for the unique cosmetics and showing off my experience. But completionists may feel differently.
On the other hand, I would be happy to receive minor things and rewards even if I’m only playing to improve myself or to have fun.

I don’t think they would add such things just for that reason alone. But I may not fully get your point here.

Whether or not ‘accomplishment’ and ‘motivation’ are factors for others, I think these things do matter in nova days’ gaming. More or less it does affect all of us in my opinion.
At least I’ve learned that next time I will try to present the bare idea without personal reasons. Thanks for the comment.

If you write the rank in the kill feed there may be additional motivation for the other players too, when they manage to kill a high rank, long time player either by skill or chance and on the other hand some may feel less disappointed when getting downed by a high rank player.
