New battle Pacifik front

Proposal: Expansion of the Pacific Front – Iwo Jima and Okinawa
Introduction and Idea
The Pacific front during World War II featured some of the most intense infantry combat in history. Battles on Pacific islands often involved large amphibious landings, complex networks of bunkers and tunnels, and fighting in extremely difficult terrain.
Adding maps inspired by the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa to the game could significantly expand the Pacific gameplay experience and provide players with new tactical possibilities.
These two battles are particularly important because they represent the final stages of the war in the Pacific and are known for extremely strong Japanese defensive systems and the slow, difficult advance of American forces.
Historical Context
Battle of Iwo Jima
The Battle of Iwo Jima was one of the toughest operations undertaken by the United States Marine Corps during the war. Japanese forces constructed a massive network of bunkers, trenches, and tunnels across the island.
A particularly important location was Mount Suribachi, which dominated the southern part of the island and was heavily fortified.
The fighting lasted for more than a month, and the terrain was filled with bomb craters, bunkers, and hidden defensive positions.
Battle of Okinawa
The Battle of Okinawa was the largest land battle in the Pacific War. It lasted nearly three months and involved hundreds of thousands of soldiers.
Combat took place through villages, open fields, hills, and heavily fortified defensive lines. One of the most famous defensive systems was the Shuri Line, a complex network of bunkers and fortifications that significantly slowed the American advance.
Proposed Maps
Iwo Jima – Beach Landing
This map would begin with an amphibious landing of American forces on the black volcanic beaches.
Map characteristics:
open beach with very little cover
Japanese bunkers positioned on higher ground
machine-gun positions controlling the approaches
numerous bomb craters across the battlefield
The objective for American players would be to break through the first defensive line and capture the Japanese bunker positions.
Iwo Jima – Suribachi Assault
This map would focus on the battle around Mount Suribachi.
Terrain features:
steep volcanic slopes
bunkers built into the rock
trench networks and machine-gun nests
underground tunnel systems
The final objective for attackers would be capturing the summit of Mount Suribachi, where a visual event could show the raising of the American flag.
Okinawa – Village Battle
This map would be inspired by traditional Okinawan villages.
Environment features:
wooden and stone houses
narrow streets
rice fields surrounding the village
defensive walls and small fortified positions
Combat on this map would focus on close-quarters fighting and building control.
Okinawa – Shuri Defensive Line
This map would be inspired by the historic defensive positions used during the Battle of Okinawa.
Map features:
hills and natural terrain cover
bunker complexes
trench networks and artillery positions
narrow rock passages and defensive chokepoints
Attackers would need to slowly advance through several defensive layers to break the line.
Gameplay Mechanics
Tunnel System
On maps inspired by Iwo Jima, Japanese players could use underground tunnels to move between bunkers and defensive positions.
These tunnels would allow:
surprise attacks
hidden movement across the battlefield
effective flanking strategies
Flamethrower Units
Special flamethrower units would be particularly effective against bunkers and tunnel entrances.
These units would play a key role in clearing fortified positions and defensive structures.
Destructible Bunkers
Some bunkers could be destroyed using explosives, tanks, or artillery.
This would create dynamic changes to the battlefield as the battle progresses.
Dynamic War Events
During battles, several dynamic events could occur:
artillery bombardments
aircraft flyovers
smoke barrages
These events would help create a stronger feeling of large-scale historical battles.
New Units and Equipment
American forces could use weapons such as:
M1 Garand
Thompson submachine gun
Japanese forces could use:
Arisaka Type 99
Type 96 Light Machine Gun
This would increase weapon variety on the Pacific front.
Benefits for the Game
Adding these maps would provide several important improvements:
greater focus on the Pacific theater
new mechanics such as tunnel warfare and bunker assaults
historically famous battles recreated in the game
more varied gameplay environments
Overall, this expansion would broaden the Pacific front experience and make the game even more engaging for players interested in historical battles from World War II.
