As similarly as in the TANKS Platform, … there is a subsection for the constant shooting/Gore/ Doom nostalgic crowd which is Fine. Generally Arcade.
However, remaining tied to the mindless Shooting Model — will get Tedious in my Opinion. To counteract this looming negative; the game should be tied to the Number one Issue of ALL wars since the beginning of time.

There are hundreds of military maps showing Operation Typhoon from both sides. The realty side of the Platform should be connected to a Map.
The current RANDOM maps could be renamed and plugged in to the pivotal places in the maps. Once your in a specific area: I. You can plan ahead — what squad to choose depending on the map – and possible opposition.
2. Intelligence gathering. ?? These high Altitude Balloons can have an observation basket/ parachuted for the Observers/ snipers. 2a. Prisoner snatching missions. ?? Infiltration prior to the main attack .
3. A map forces the Platform to establish a fortified frontline ??? …alien concept currently. 3a. defended rear areas ? / commando scenarios against these areas ?
4. Attempting to capture a strategic area may – Force player to Create – Attack groups ?? in order to prevail.
- Also maps – progression might TRIGGER, an easier progression system at the Reality Side.
I suggest that players be assigned units according to ranks. Privates – 10 man squad. Sergeant- 2 squads. Lt.'s a Platoon or two depending on points earned 50- 100 troops. Obviously these numbers an interface would be tied to the map. So on in the Higher ranks.
If the player succeeds in the mission he wins the same-- points troops & reinforcements.
Fail and return to the training camp-- rebuilding to attempt again or join a larger force.
Also – out maneuvering the other side sometimes is more valuable than wiping them out. Encircled forces tend to redeploy to better defensible positions.
