Necessary fixes for the Churchill III

Necessary fixes for the Churchill III

Plus bonus issues for the Charlton Automatic Rifle squad

Greetings and salutations, friends!

I had a moment of weakness at the end of the last sale, and I actually bought a Commonwealth squad for once (despite the fact that there is still essentially not an option to run a full-Commonwealth line-up). I purchased the Churchill III (and the Mosquito), and have been enjoying myself quite a bit actually…

Though, with the purchase of the squad, some major faults have made themselves known to me, and whilst I am a little too busy in real life for the moment to write and finish my Rider II suggestion (it’s coming, I have not forgotten), I do have time for a quick and dirty “please fix this” suggestion.

Without further delay, let us begin.

  • Issue 1 - Crew priority.

This tank benefits from the new hull-gunner feature, but - it also suffers from it. Current priority has the hull-gunner/Machinegunner being higher up than the Commander - and frankly, it shouldn’t be.

Hull-gunners are only ever useful if you also have a Commander to direct it and the main guns at the same time - without the Commander, you’ll have to switch to the Machinegunner directly to even use the hull-MG, but then you loose control of the main guns, basically worthless.

So, please change this.

Should the Machinegunner be the lowest priority position on the Churchill III?
  • Aye, seems reasonable.
  • No, I prefer it this way.

Ideally, the priority should be: Gunner > Driver > Loader > Commander > Machinegunner.

  • Issue 2 - Headwear.

In the Normandy Campaign, this squad has the default helmet option being a proper RAC helmet. However, the cosmetic pool itself is that of a US tanker, not a Commonwealth one.

Please fix.

Should the Churchill III squad have Commonwealth headgear in Normandy as well?
  • Aye, rather silly that this is the case.
  • No, I want my plucky Brits to wear American headwear.

To clarify beyond all doubt; this is only an issue with the headgear selection, and only in the Normandy Campaign.

  • Bonus Issue - Charlton Automatic Rifle squad cosmetics

Throwing in a quick and dirty one.

The Charlton Automatic Rifle squad, having been given access to the new green Battledress torso, it does not have access to the green leg pieces. Another cosmetics oversight, so please address this.

Should the Charlton Automatic Rifle squad also have access to the green trousers?
  • Aye, seems logical and fair.
  • No, we ran out of dyed pixels.

It would appear that, actually, this squad doesn’t have a seperate cosmetic pool depending on campaign, with the sole exception being The Bulge where they have winter clothing instead… in other words, you could purchase and wear desert uniforms, on the beaches of Normandy, something you can’t normally do. I guess this is another oversight.

Should the shorts and rolled up desert torso options be removed from this squad?
  • Aye, it’s a bit silly and out of line with other Commonwealth squads.
  • No, it will be fair weather in Normandy I’m sure.

Edit: To clarify, I meant they should be removed in Normandy only. IE, they should get seperate campaign cosmetic pools, like every other Commonwealth squad.*

That’s all for today… I’ll get back on finishing my Rider II squad suggestion… eventually.

Until next time dear reader, and remember; don’t run with scissors.

Lt. Ogge King, 3rd Experimental Tea Infusion and Small Arms Appreciation Company, Home Guard (Reserve),

I think this should be applied to every tank.

Indeed, but I think that was fixed on most/some tanks… So, I’m pointing out one where they forgot to do it on.

This issue plagues all tanks after the machine gunner update. Yet DF claims they lack the ability to fix it, which is utterly irresponsible.

One more detail to add: if only the player-controlled commander survives in the vehicle, they will be instantly moved to the driver’s seat. Most players try to switch to the gunner position during firefights, only to be forcibly shifted to the driver instead. By the time they try to switch back, it’s already too late and the tank gets destroyed. It’s really frustrating.

Why does the in-crew seat order even automatically rearrange the player’s position?

Has it been fixed? If they had fixed it, they would’ve prioritized Japanese tanks long ago. There’s no way they’d fix ours first. To Japanese players, nerfing our vehicles is just balancing things out for them. We lost one loader slot! I hate that update. The T-34, Panzer III and Sherman got hit really hard by this change.

Exception - tanks that have no other MG

Or better yet, we should have the ability to choose priorities mid combat.

Don’t worry I’m sending you my best Italian divisions:

The problem with Churchill III is that its a heavy tank with a bad gun - which needs to fight against German BR3 tanks that pen it no problem.

Its cool, and has a bit of extra survivability, but its solid AP makes the gun almost unplayable.

It’s got the crusaders gun right?

I think he said it soon after his meeting with Mussolini I think he also said:

“The Italian command was, for the most part, not equal to the task of carrying on war in the desert, where the requirement was lightning decision followed by immediate action. The training of the Italian infantryman fell far short of the standard required by modern warfare. Particularly harmful was the all pervading differentiation between officer and man. While the men had to make shift without field-kitchens, the officers, or many of them, refused adamantly to forgo their several course meals. Many officers, again, considered it unnecessary to put in an appearance during battle and thus set the men an example. All in all, therefore, it was small wonder that the Italian soldier, who incidentally was extraordinarily modest in his needs, developed a feeling of inferiority which accounted for his occasional failure and moments of crisis.”

But not Infront Mussolini I hope
