r/ForgottenWeapons - A bush-produced SMG, produced by the Soviet Partisans in World war 2 [1280x680]

UPD: OK I found an article about specific people who made this SMG, TM-44: Yakov Temyakov and Yankel Menkin (both Jews). They really did scratch build those. They repurposed lots of parts: bicycle frames, plumbing pipes, flour mill axles, springs from a German aerostat and duraluminum from a downed German plane, cow horn grips. It is not a complete MP 38 copy, they say it has a PPSh-influenced bolt inside a mostly Vollmer design. Even if they lie and the bolt is indeed from a MP 38 as u/Tobi_1989 says, it’s inside a newly-built receiver (just look at the bolt handle opening). Still, Temyakov’s memoirs talk about “special design of the bolt” that increases reliability.

Not mystery but cool

Isn’t that Uragan smg?

No, i thinks they’re different. But I can kinda see the resemblance

It says here that this is a special device for silent executions, made from a Nagant revolver. It was classified and only declassified in the 1990s.

A grim thing.

Grim and dark indeed. But atlest I was right about it.

I did some research and they are indeed different weapons. Uragan smg also known as Berezin PPB was also designed by a partisan using pieces of Mp 40 which is why they look so similar
