Sure the PzIV H Turret is very thin, but that would mean the T34 would need to aim for a weak spot, while the PzIV H would just wreck the T34 everywhere.
Personally The Pz IV F2 with only 50mm frontal armor would fit better, but I don’t think any F2’s were left at the end of the war right?

Do note he said the T-34-57, not the regular T-34. The 57mm in question had ~145mm of penetration with it’s APHE rounds. Granted, that also wouldn’t necessarily be the best matchup, due to the lower HE load than the Panzer IV’s, so it might be better, if the T-34-57 were available, to be matched up with the IVJ, considering their effect vs infantry?

My personal experience that sometimes I did (almost)no harm to T34 as Panther after 2 or 3 shots and he one-shotted me through the turret

The Panther can click on the T-34-85 pretty much anywhere that isn’t at an absurd angle. And if he was hulldown he could click on the turret or turret ring for a (usually) one hit kill.

Panzer IV J one shot me all the time from the Front. Only thing I see is biased German Mains. This is why I don’t like German Mains, on forum you see they always complain.
Panzer IV J imo is balanced when vs T-34-85. They also had that on Warthunder I believe, as it should be. It was also unlock at level 15 at Normandy, I had been killed while using Jumbo. its a very strong Tank. You should be happy
Now German get OP STG44 and FG42 with no counter, Soviet still get shitty old weapons and AVS36 from Moscow. Soviet get nothing good late game, not even good plane, still low payload, and German get 250kg+++
German Early is weak as it should be, this Campaign was based on Invasion of Berlin where German lost and get rekt Hard. It should follow History. Late game now they have OP toys to play around, i don’t see anything need to change
Soviets is fine, Soviets had overwhelming Numbers during WW2, it was not reflected in game. Soviet Troops should have larger reinforcement like in Normandy to compensate, same with Faster Spawn Time, like the US

Panzer IVJ is BR 4.0 in Warthunder, vs the T-34-85 D-5T’s BR of 5.3. The T-34-85 D-5T is more than a full battle ranking above the IVJ in that game, e.g. is considered too much more powerful than it to ever face it under normal circumstances in Warthunder.
Regardless of the fact that the IVJ can one-shot the D-5T frontally, doesn’t mean it’s as easy for the IVJ as it is for the T-34 in return. This being before you consider how much worse vs infantry the IVJ is compared to the T-34-85’s thanks to it’s slower turret rotation speed and smaller amount of high explosives in it’s HE round.
Also, Germans already have a far lower win rate than Soviets do in Berlin’s CBT, and you want to give the soviets more of an advantage? This is a game, and should be balanced to some degree as such. I certainly don’t think Germans have an issue in either of the other campaigns we presently have, but in Berlin, there are clear issues. More map design than anything else, but equipment issues are clearly there.

Well, let me say this much, I’m not a too big fan of War Thunder, so I haven’t played much of it, and thus I’m not getting my stats from said game, instead I get my intel from History forums and Wikipedia,
and after revisiting said stuff I will say now that said “intel” is indeed irrelevant in this game, since a T34 85 which starts to struggle at destroying Panthers at 500m distance, while the panther could still defeat T35 85 at 2000m distance, and all of that while combat ranges never get beyond 300m anyways…
I mean, defensively IRL, the Panther was absolutely better, thanks to the greater penetration and better optics, but tank engagement distances in offensive maneuvers tended to be closer range to begin with. And that’s before getting into soviet tactics being different than german ones in the first place.
That said, for the function of the game we’re playing, Enlisted, Warthunder is the closest basis to pull information from, given the relation of the developers of both games and that the tank models, including for performance, are being ported from Warthunder to begin with, and the engagement distances in-game are closer to Warthunder norms than real-life norms. So…
