My findings and opinions while playing Stalingrad

I’ve been playing Stalingrad for awhile now.

I’ve got about 60 battles played for axis, and maybe 15 for allies.

My first thought is this.

Allied players, where the fuck are you?

As axis, the majority of matches are a steamroll. I don’t think I’m playing against bots necessarily, but it seems as though every single one of the worst players in the game has opted to play Stalingrad allies.

I stopped playing allies outright, as there was no team play, no objective play.

Just literally nothing useful from my team 90% of the time. It’s worse than any other campaign I’ve played, no contest.

Which brings me to my next point.

The sheer amount of rally points my axis teammates have built has caused me to cream my pants a multitude of times. I’ll run and help them build them, bouncing up and down like a methed out chihuahua.

In Stalingrad, I don’t have to fret about constantly being the one throwing down a rally. (Although I still do.)

I’ll be ready to respawn and build a new one, and I’ll look at the map and see 3-4 placed all over the map on a consistent basis. Fucking beautiful.

Not to mention, players also build ammo boxes and fortifications, as an added bonus.

I have no idea what sparked this change, but I’m not complaining.

In terms of gameplay, this is the first campaign where I’m not getting 100+ kills every single game.

It’s partly due to the fact that teammates actually seem to share in the slaughter, but I also notice that the gameplay is just slower than it is in other campaigns, and I kind of dig it.

The map design allows for all playstyles to shine, and that is pretty awesome.

The bolt actions feel great. I continue to run at least 2 in all but my assault squads.

I’m in the minority who thinks the mg changes are ok personally. (FYI, just get the stamina and stamina regen perks if you really want to Rambo with your MG-42.)

The tnt charges are awesome, and I would welcome them in other campaigns.

Fuck the concussions. Nuff said.

In terms of pure fun, Stalingrad has usurped Berlin as my favorite campaign at this point in time, which is saying a lot.

The full access xp boost is surprisingly too much if I’m being honest. I believe it would provide a better sense of grind and achievement at perhaps 3x.

Their monetization system could potentially use some tweaking next time around, but it truly is a well made campaign, open sightlines be damned. (Just go through the ten zillion buildings or flank wide my friends. It works, I promise.)

In short, if you’re someone who has skipped Stalingrad, I urge you to at least play a few matches as axis to experience the amount of team play and in my opinion good changes I’ve seen in the campaign, as it truly makes me yearn for all campaigns to feel the same way.

Maybe I’ll see you there.

I really hope they don’t add that “full access” bullshit to other campaigns. It’s quite the insult to be constantly reminded that you’re playing the “trial version”, despite having paid for the elite BP and Premium.

They can fuck right off if they think I’ll spend more.

it can’t even be called trial because except mkb for the engineers the rest of the weapons / vehicles are sidegrade on sidegrade of sidegrade, it was easier to ask to buy the access with booster and level for 15 euro and if you wanted another 15 for the useless tank with the flame thrower and a premium month(?) Maybe, but those marketing geniuses are 4 universes behind us sadly

I agree.
In terms of the gameplay, Stalingrad is great. But economy of this campaign sucks.

I have been doing much better now as soviets since I unlocked the PPSH drum. However i shouldn’t have to wait until late campaign levels to actually have a fighting chance.

If they want FTP to be able access it still, I’m beginning to think they should have allowed all levels to be earned. They aren’t required to, but it would be wise.

If they do that, I see no reason why they can’t go forward with this model. I think it’s very good in most aspects.

Moscow axis and berlin axis have it worse in that regard.

How dare you!!! I love my “flammy bbq cutipies”. They’re really funny to play. And much more dangerous than ppl usually realize…

Full acces idea would be fine if it would give acces to unique stuff.
Meanwhile we have such amazing things as: M30 Drilling, PzIII N, Granatwerfer 36, MG42…
Russians get a few more unique things but it’s still meh.

They should add that retroactively and only keep the XP boost and higher soldier and weapon roll rarities, some little goodies like a couple soldiers for each faction and guns to make it a bit more appealing to peaple who lack in orders for both. Make it 30 bucks and include all 4 campaigns. You don´t need it, but it´s a nice option to have if you have constant anciety when you have premium and feel like it´s a waste if you don´t play the game 24/7.

Love the flame tank. On certain maps it’s the best opening assault squad you can take. Burn them out of their building then dismount with kiralys and grenades to cap the point.

It’s my favorite campaign so far.

It does have the berlin vibe I like + mkb.

What more do i need.

Darkflow really thought they did something by giving it a lower fire rate.

If they only knew. Lmao.

But I believe I actually played with you the other day.

You were pissing me off because every time I managed to put down a rally, you capped the point and I had to run all the way to my next spot just for you to do it again lmfao.

I was a bit confused to see you on North America servers.

uff i m sorry for that

(i do play on every server, mostly EU ofc, but i get like 100ms ping in US so why not :stuck_out_tongue: ) its still playable

I only manage 200 some ms on EU.

Your internet must be a thing of beauty. Lol

If the price included all the campaigns then that would definitely take the sting out. But this level of greed is pretty disgusting.

Oh well i have between 30-60 of ping and with even this, i see bot and player teleporting around the map, or my soldier beign moved by an invisibile forces called “network connection problem”

Well it includes 2 tanks and you know how much those bundles cost. you get zour money worth technically. Though some features should´ve been omitted obviously.

the games have been top-notch for the most part, much more aggressive games
