Hey everyone,
After a long break, I’m back in the thick of the grind, and I feel like sharing my experiences and thoughts.
First off, I’m 31 and I’ve been playing Enlisted for 5 years now, crazy!
Back then, there was only the Moscow Front, and you could briefly try out the Norramdie. That all seems so long ago now ![]()
Enlisted is by far the game with the most hours I’ve played. Back when I was still playing War Thunder with my brother, I thought how awesome it would be if there were infantry too.
Enlisted really appeals to me, as I grew up with the WWII setting. The graphics are fantastic, the models are great too, and I also find the squad system to be a welcome change of pace.
Overall, I’m really happy with the development, even if it’s a bit stalled at the moment. I actually quite like the merge system that so many people dislike, as it has led to much more diverse battles.
And you can choose what you want to research; you don’t have to grind through tons of experience for a weapon or squad you don’t even want to play with.
Now for my criticisms and suggestions.
For me, the biggest criticisms are the animations and the AI.
The AI seems more like robots than “soldiers” to me; they’re too stiff, their movements are too unnatural, and it looks very plastic. A few additional animations would be good, some cover animations, ducking heads, etc., for example. Generally, the AI soldiers should be better utilized instead of just “parked” somewhere as reserves.
I also find some of the reload animations disappointing, as they look like you’re briefly stroking the weapon like a small child used to do with their toy gun. ![]()
I would like to see a bit more care and less frantic animation here, even though the whole game is sometimes a bit too hectic, in my opinion.
Aircraft
It would greatly improve the gameplay if the rendering distance for soldiers were increased. I personally enjoy playing fighter jets and then bombarding the enemy with low-level fire. Unfortunately, this doesn’t always work so well because you can’t see the infantry, and the team doesn’t always mark the enemies.
This leads to most people simply dropping bombs and rockets, which is great, but this leaves the fighter jets without bombs and rockets ineffective, since there isn’t always an enemy aircraft in the air.
Regarding the Pioneers:
I would like to see the construction mechanics reworked, for example, with chain-link fences, so that you could essentially draw a blueprint, similar to what you see in strategy games, with material costing X amount every few meters.
It would be similar with sandbags, or you could throw individual bags that you could then stack. For example, if you’re a machine gunner lying down somewhere, you could place two or three individual bags in front of you, and bam, you’ve got great cover.
Big Game
Quite simply, a large-scale mission with even more players, without a grey zone that “combines” several maps, with varied tasks; sometimes you have to destroy something, sometimes you have to capture something, etc.
