Hello,
this is the second part of my 100 hours of beta experience, the first one is dealing with things that need fixing and is in the bug report section of this forum. This second part is dealing with thing I believe could /should be improved to further improve the gaming experience.
- Something to do with unneeded guns, knifes and so on
- I have 300x knifes, 30x radios, 15x sturmpistols, 10x flamethrowers, 10x granatwerfers , 10x 3 star kar96 and so on, and there is nothing to do with them. I would love to scrap them into anything just to use them up, so I don’t have to look at them every time I’m browsing my equipment.
- List of weapons and soldiers
- I have no idea what weapons some of the soldiers in non active squads have. Sometimes I know I have some weapon but I just can’t find the soldier that has it and sometimes I’m looking for a soldier that got replaced into a random squad and I have to click through every one of the 20 different squads I have just to find him. It would be great to have a tab where we could browse all the soldiers and weapons we have, and see where they are currently placed.
- Tips from the loading screen
- The tutorial itself should either be drastically changed to include at least some valuable information or just be scrapped all together. The only way to actually learn some neat trick in the game is by either trial and error or reading the tips that appear for 1 second on the loading screen. It would be nice to be able to read all the different tips the loading screen gives in the main menu.
- Upgrading soldier class level
- This may be intended but I still feel like there should be a way to get a soldier to a different class level. I didn’t know about different class levels at first and now I’m stuck with a 5 star level 1 trooper and many others that are quite useless for me at the moment. It would be nice to have a way for at least the 5 stars to continue their carrier and upgrading them past their original class level.
- More silver orders
- I am in no way crying about having not enough silver orders, but that is mainly because my battle pass is still up and running. I am 3 days away from completing the battle pass and I have already completed every achievement and challenge there is and I’m pretty sure that I will be stranded with no silver order income. This may not be that bad for soldiers and weapons but it definitely is for tanks and planes. I haven’t even completed upgrading my 4 tanks in Normandy, have non in any other campaign and have no upgraded planes and I’ve already used up all my silver orders. If there won’t be a way to get silver orders, at least let us get vehicle parts from bronze orders.
- Something after the battlepass
- I have bought the elite battlepass, thinking every new battlepass level will require more stars. That is not the case and now I am 3 days away from reaching the end. Does that mean that there will be nothing to do for the next 52 days? Can we at least get a 1 silver order per 10 stars or 20 or something?
- Golden order soldier perks
- When buying a soldier for the golden order, his perk points are randomized, meaning it feels really bad when you spent 100 hours grinding for a golden order just to get a 5 star soldier that can’t actually equip any of the good perks because of bad luck. I think these gold order soldiers should either have maxed out perks, or at least should have above average.
- Rebalance the artillery upgrade for the radio squad
- The 30 second cooldown on artillery is absolutely op, even more so on assault or invasion modes. The moment the artillery stops, there is like a 3 second pause and then it starts again. If they have two squads that just take turns spamming the one objective we are protecting, we have no way of defending it. Not only does it kill, but it also makes aiming impossible, meaning that no one from our team can aim anywhere near the objective. I think changing it into like a bigger radius artillery every one minute, or make it a rocket artillery, or make it more deadly could work. Anything but the 30 cooldown one please.
- Flamethrower soldier fire protection
- Make either a perk or an upgrade that makes the flamethrower soldiers not burn themselves with their flame. I don’t mean complete immunity but just either a damage reduction or make them take damage from fire but prevent them from catching on fire. Another idea could be an item that can be equipped, such as heat resistant coat that prevents you from catching on fire.
- Binoculars
- Binoculars both for tank commanders and for regular troops. Such an equippable item could help out snipers to know where to position themselves and radio operators where to fire artillery.
- Some gadgets for tanks
- It would be nice to have some stuff to upgrade our tanks with such as anti mine cover or smoke charges.
- Announcing 0 respawns left
- When attacking, I often die and then realize that there are no respawns left. It would be nice to be informed using the announcer for example, that this is our last life and we have to fight like it.
- Spawning on a squadmate in lone wolf
- When I want to spawn on a squadmate in lone wolf and someone spawns right before me, I have to try again after few seconds because of the cooldown. This makes no sense as I can just spawn on the new squadmate that spawned on the former one.
- Spawns overlapping
- When trying to spawn on a squadmate its difficult to click if there is a different squadmate or a spawn beacon nearby. It would be nice to be able to pick who you spawn on by clicking for example their name in the corner or something.
- Make the copy pasted stuff around maps a bit more subtle
- The main example is the hills of rubble on the black bombarded church map, where when viewed from a bit further away, it is very obvious all the lumps are the same. Not only is it very weird to look at, but it is also quite visible when moving over them as a soldier or a tank, as they all are the same size. The houses mostly in Moscow campaign are also quite obviously just copy pasted all over the place but it is much less of a problem at least for me.
- Different marking
- Marking is a great feature that helps with teamwork a lot. However the current system is not very user friendly and it often causes more confusion then good. There is no way to cancel a wrongly placed mark, there is only one kind of mark, sometimes the marks don’t work on tanks and you can’t mark normally on the map. I feel like if holding the V button opened up a small menu just like with Alt=commands and the engineer building menu would be great. Showing what kind of things we wanna mark, such as Mortar squad, lot of soldiers, few soldiers flanking, tank, artillery please, bomb here, look this way and cancel marks. Also would love to be able to use this with opened map, since I might not always be able to look directly at the thing I wanna mark, for example if I’m under fire.
- AI command panel
- If I’m playing engineer and have a hammer equipped I can’t really zoom and order my troops to attack a point. I know that if we hold “Alt” the command panel opens up, however it only deals with how should the AI soldiers act. It would be nice to have one for where you want them to go. Make holding X open a similar panel where we can tell them which point to attack or to cancel all orders.
- The speed and movement of AI soldiers
- Often when I snipe and see a mob of soldiers, I have noticed they all move in the exact same direction and speed, making it really easy for me to pick them off one by one. It would be nice to give different soldiers at least slight movement speed difference to make sniping a bit more challenging or at least make them do different kind of actions when fired upon (hiding, crouching, running). One possible idea will be mentioned in my 3/3 list and it is about the soldier perk point, where they could give slight bonuses, such as 0,2 movement speed for every green leg perk point.
- Mortar distance with a map
- Would be nice to be able to see what distance is the mortar firing on with the map open, as the map currently covers most of the mortar aiming
- Mortar location
- Mortar users often sit outside the map and just mortar spam surrounded by ammo boxes. There is no way to get to them and often there is not even a way to pinpoint where exactly they are. It would be great if at least one of these things got changed. Either we have to find him to get him to stop firing inside the map borders, or have him be outside but give us his location so we can direct our artillery/bombers there, or return fire with our mortar.
- Headshot mark
- Not that important, but in a lot of games, there is a clear headshot mark when you hit some one in the head, that not only makes it more satisfying, but also assures the player that he scored a headshot. When I was grinding for the Sniper Elite achievement, I had no way of knowing, how I was doing till the end of the round.
- Shooting MMGs midair
- It is not really game breaking but I, myself, have abused this countless times. Player can shoot with MMGs while jumping over a fence or out a window from the second floor, and I find that pretty arcady, seeing a guy with a 13 kg gun vaulting and firing midair.
- Engineers choice of fortification
- I would love to see more kinds of fortifications for the engineer class. The choices are very limited and the resulting outposts that are built often look very goofy. Different sizes and shapes of the sandbag walls and some platforms to stand on would be a great start. Barricading windows would also be nice and I’m sure the community has a lot more ideas to offer.
- Points for building as engineer
- I am not sure if you get something for people spawning on your spawn beacon or taking ammo from your ammo crates, but if you do it should be more clear. If you don’t then I think you definitely should as building a spawn beacon is often time consuming and can win a game, but doesn’t really feel rewarding for the builder.
- Spawn beacon destroyed notification
- When I build a spawn beacon and it gets destroyed I often don’t notice and don’t bother building another one. It would be nice to get notified when it’s destroyed to know you can build a new spawn beacon.
- Moving a spawn beacon
- Sometimes I want to place my spawn beacon somewhere but can’t because I’ve already placed it somewhere. It would be nice to be able to abandon an old beacon from afar in favor of building a new one somewhere. In assault or invasion it’s really annoying when the zone moves and your spawn beacon is placed on enemy spawn and you can’t do anything about it.
- The smoke grenades
- I feel like there isn’t currently much of a use for them. The only thing they are good at is blinding a tank, but against a tank it is better to just use a explosive pack and one shot it instead of blinding it. The smoke comes out in a weird shape and really slowly, making it very unpractical.
- Explosive pack X Hand grenade rebalance
- I feel like there currently isn’t a reason to carry a hand grenade when explosive pack exists. It has a similar blast radius, similar damage, similar throw range. The only real difference is that explosive pack takes longer to cook and can destroy tanks. Either buff hand grenades or better yet, nerf explosion packs. One idea is that explosion pack could require two slots in the grenade pouch instead of one, or make it have a much smaller blast radius to be less effective as a room cleaner.
- Making shells do something when they penetrate
- Most of the tank battles I see are just them ramming into each other and firing like 10 rounds till they pick each and every crew member to destroy the tank. The AP shell should do at least something upon entering the enemy tank, to do more damage and make the tank battles more swift and satisfying. I may not be an expert but I believe that when a shell penetrates an armor, it creates a lot of steel fragments that wreck havoc inside the tank, meanwhile now it feels that if the shell isn’t perfectly aimed at the ammo deposit or exactly at the crew, it does nothing.
- Choosing a tank target in practice mode
- Now I understand that if one is skilled in the tank mechanics, or is a war thunder veteran, you will deal with enemy tanks more swiftly due to the knowledge of the exact position of the fuel tank or the ammo deposit. However it is very hard to learn these spots without war thunder and I don’t want to download a huge game just for the shell simulator. It would be nice if we could spawn tanks in the practice mode to learn where to shoot the tanks.
- Choosing a tank for the map
- It would be nice to be able to choose a tank depending on the map we play on. Certain tanks have certain advantages on different maps, and even in real life, tanks made for certain roles would be sent to places where they could fulfil that role. It’s annoying when I equip a slow campy tank and get a map where I have to be really mobile, or when I equip a Puma and get a map where I can’t leave a single spot to be effective.
- Switching between HE/AP
- When shooting infantry with a tank, and suddenly enemy tank appears, it feels terrible to have to shoot one of before switching the shell type. Now I understand that it is very difficult to extract a shell already in the breach, but tanks don’t drive around with a shell loaded most of the time. It would be nice to tell the loader to not load a shell until you decide which one you want.
- Ammo checkpoints on assault/invasion
- I’ve seen so many people in-game asking where can they restock their ammunition an I, myself, have also experienced it countless of times when I use up all my ammo and have to shoot infantry with AP shells or just being a movable MG nest. It would be nice to get a Ammo restock point in other game modes then conquest.
- Forbid the tank crew to leave the tank
- When I leave the tank to repair it, the whole tank crew leaves as well, getting out into the open for no reason and usually getting shot in the process. It would be great to have a button that forbids the AI tank crew to leave when you alone leave.
- Saving a stuck tank
- Very often I see a tank getting stuck in a trench, on a stone, or any other obstacle. The driver often tries his best to get out but often it is impossible and he is stuck in there forever. At that point he can either occupy the teams tank slot for no reason, or self destruct. It would be nice to have a way to push them out, even if it either requires multiple soldiers to do so, or a certain tool.
- Commander vision in the hatch
- When using the commander vision in the hatch, it feels more like a punishment then an advantage. The scroll button to view different windows is a terrible mechanic, it makes the looking around really unpractical and goofy. Please just let us look around with a mouse.
- Commander vision outside the hatch
- When I try to look around as the commander of a tank, a lot of the time I don’t want the whole turret to move with me. It would be nice to have a “C” button like in a plane to just freely look around without the whole turret moving with you.
- Skirts and a PIAT
- I know that tank skirts were introduced as a way to protect tanks against the anti tank rifles, but I’m pretty sure they were helpful against stuff like PIATs as well. When the only thing that Pz. Kpfw. IV Ausf. H does better then the Pz. Kpfw. IV Ausf. J is faster turret rotation and additional skirt armor, it would be nice if the skirt armor at least did something. I’ve had my tank absolutely decimated by PIATs from all sides even if they were hitting the skirt. Either make the skirts more effective, or nerf the PIATs because I’m also pretty sure their German counterpart Sturmpistole isn’t nearly as effective.
- Tank and plane spawn protection
- I have a big problem with the player spawn protection, but at the same time it feels really bad when I spawn in my tank to get one shotted by a camping bomber, or when I spawn with a plane just for a fighter that’s waiting behind my spawn to immediately shoot me down. I thing the thing that would solve this is for the planes to spawn a bit later and further, to give the other side some time to better position.
- Safe zone for planes
- A thing that could also help with the spawn camping problem for planes could be a safe zone with for example an AI anti-air gun, so that enemy planes can’t follow you forever, deep into your territory or spawn camp you .
- Spawn cooldown for planes
- Often when you shoot down an enemy plane and want to return to your base for more ammo, the enemy just spawns another plane right behind you and shoots you down. This could get solved by spawning the planes further away as I have already mentioned, but I believe that a plane cooldown would also be great, so that when a plane gets destroyed, the team has to wait a bit, before spawning another one. This would also help with the suicide issue someone already had on the forum, where he wanted to penalize people for dying in a plane.
- Map in a plane
- Opening the map in a plane is mostly useless, as it is really low resolution and when zooming in onto the objectives it’s impossible to see anything.
- Vision of the pilot
- When looking at the ground below, I often see a lot of stuff, but then when I get closer, a fog appears making it suddenly impossible to see, and then the fog disappears, making it possible to see again. It would be nice for this to be more fluent.
- Make it possible to look back as a pilot
- I know that pilots had a big problem to look back, but you often see that though hard, it was not possible, they did have a window back there and they just had to twist both their neck and body to actually see behind them. I would love something similar to this, so I can see if I’m being followed or not.
- Spin on the spot when hitting something
- I’ve noticed that whenever I hit a tree or anything with my plane, instead of my wing breaking off or getting it damage in some way, it just flips my plane on the spot. I don’t know if hitting a tree with a wing is survivable for the plane but it would at least be a lot more cinematic, if we loose the wing and slowly fall to our doom instead of just doing a 360 death spin.
- Parachutes for pilots
- You can equip the pilot with a gun and other stuff, yet actually seeing combat with him is almost impossible. It would be nice to be able to parachute in a time of need, or at least for trees to soften the fall.
