If enemy team is constantly spawning planes and you’re constantly shooting them down, yes, you are contributing. Not only are you draining tickets incredibly faster than if you were infantry, you’re protecting your team from heavy bombardments.
I guess you don’t play U.S. much, or only intentionally crash after dropping the payload. Several months ago they f**ked with a bunch of the planes and made their wings start breaking off pulling out of a dive. The event spitfire being one of them. It’s wings will rip right off every time during your first dive after a fresh spawn unless you slow down and fly extremely carefully. It’s such a broken mechanic, you won’t even be any where near it’s “top speed”.
I just went into the practice range and dove from 2,000m and nothing happened to the Spitfire. The only plane I’ve managed to rip the wings off of in battle is the A-20G
I’ve never ripped the wings off the a-20, but i don’t play with it ever. The practice range is also very different than standard matches I’ve noticed. The f-80 flys incredibly steady in practice, in battle it’s jumps up and down as if there’s turbulence. Either way, i promise the event spitfire was messed with. I’m not the only one saying so. Can find reddits about it as well. It was fine when we first got it, and was fine for months after. I forget which update it was that changed it, but they definitely did something to it. Wings rip off for me every spawn and first dive if i don’t drop altitude from spawn and slow down first. Guess I’ll have to make a recording of it next time i get on. Haven’t been playing much recently though
At this point, I think balancing rare weapons like they’re part of a regular tech tree is unrealistic.
When asked whether the Copper Oxide PPS‑42 should be nerfed, the assistant replied along these lines:
If this weapon gets nerfed, players who already own it will be upset. Aside from loot boxes, there is no other way to obtain it. Therefore, its impact on match balance is negligible even when it appears in battles.
We can draw two conclusions from that response.
First, as an event-exclusive weapon, it can be slightly overpowered compared to the TT, and that’s acceptable.
Second, its low player count means it won’t drastically skew matches.
So — the XA-38 will remain locked at BR 3 by default forever
Doesn’t sound that crazy if it’s the 50 round version. The recoil being worse thanks to the higher rpm wouldn’t help the handling especially 1200 rpm plus only 50 rounds. If it handled bad yeah BR 3 all day IMO. Currently at BR 4 the 75 round MG 34 is better.
TT MG 42 on BR 4 is like a sidegrade of MG 34 on BR 3 in statwise.
MG 42 has 990 RoF meanwhile MG 34 has 880 RoF, the difference between them is 110 RoF but MG 34 already has 880 RoF which is i’d consider it as high enough RoF. And MG 42 has 5.6 seconds reload time meanwhile MG 34 has 4.8 seconds reload time, that’s 0.8 seconds reload speed difference which is significant enough. I’d still use MG 34 on BR 3 even if TT MG 42 was also BR 3 due to this.
MG42 is BR4 just because It has so much fame that most people considered it supperior to MG34. Ironically, it’s stats don’t actually live up to the terror of its legacy.
Then that isn’t a good example… I only went to that as the mg 42 is BRIV which xa 38 is deserving of… it is simply an upgrade to a20 besides the forward facing guns… and even then it had a tank cannon that is very good against enemy tanks if you know how to use it.
Which… mg 42 isn’t exactly an upgrade to 34 according to this… and the increased fire rate would make it worse… while the xa 38 is just better than a20 due to its speed… so that isn’t a fair comparison I guess.
The mg42 (50) is definitely br3 in my opinion. Higher rate of fire isn’t always better, especially with a smaller mag and long reload. The sprint factor could be brought slightly lower than mg34 if it needed a nerf to be br3 or even the ads speed. As for the a20’s, they could be br3 as well. They turn like boats and have mediocre climb rate. The M8 variant would be hard pressed to destroy tanks reliably without a steep dive, and the variant with the 4 500 lbs bombs we are already facing at br3 with the xa38. They also dont have any 20mm guns.
That would not be anywhere near balanced for German or Japan ones… I mean sure 110 might have better performance and cannons but the a20 has 2 more bombs and arguable better forward facing armament… and Japan? Pfft.
Why are you talking about tanks? You’d think infantry would be of concern when referring to rockets… which while the m8s aren’t the best having what 12 of then well makes up for that.
While this is my opinion, both the f2 and c7 bf110, I believe have the better frontal armaments, (this is subjective however due to prefence).
I will give you the fact that they do have x2 more bombs, but that doesn’t change the fact that the xa38 has already been doing that along with an airborne 75mm tank gun
There are a couple Japanese planes that are overtiered like the ki-61 for example. Plus the Japanese tech tree is pretty much barren compared to what could be ported from Warthunder. This is the fault of the devs. I personally take down p38s all the time in a zero, the a20 would be much easier with how sluggish it is.
While the a20 m8 would be very effective against infantry, it can’t do much against tanks with closed tops unless you have a skilled pilot. So you then have someone in the attack plane slot that can’t get rid of a grey zone tank. On top of that, there’s also engineers AA, the kugelblitz, flakpanzer, ta-se, and likely the upcoming jeeps that can take shots at you.
While 12 m8s will be a lot, the p38s can do the same thing but faster and dog fight
There are also german planes that are overtiered as well. You can see people making post almost every other day.
At the end of the day though it’s not my game, and this tread is about the xa38, not this. Let us try to keep this topic on subject for those that want to discuss it and not derail it entirely about other things as much as I’d like to. Have a nice day.
