I’m not sure why something as large as a radio is put in the same area as a magazine pouch but it is. The engineers hammer takes up a weapon slot so why shouldn’t the radio? My suggestion is to move the radio to the weapon slot and allow the radio operator to bring more ammo or grenades instead which would put it inline with all the other “special” weapons such as AT weapons, mortars and hammers.
100% agree. i would rather have my ammo pouch than second gun
I mean the choices of second weapons for the radio operators are so limited I dont even bother
Exactly, i dont use second weapon slot on anyone tbh, it is pointless in my eyes, bag is just superior.
Yeah I never use secondary weapon slots ever. There’s no good reason to use them for any infantry.
A case could be made for shotguns… if they weren’t utterly useless. :(( why did they even get nerfed anyway there was nothing wrong with them
I think it’s because you can put backpacks in that pouch too, and a backpack with a radio wouldn’t make sense, honestly they should be two separate slots, pouches and backpacks.
As for the engineer hammer, I think it has to do with all the “building material” you carry along with it.
Then bar the radio operator from using a backpack or like you said make a different spot. I think in CBT the radio actually was in a weapon slot originally
Yes my comrade I agree!
how the actual hell does that radio fit into his pouch.
I think having the radio operator locked out of the more valuable backpack slot makes sense as a balance thing to a certain extent. Say what you will about the actual utility of full cooldown artillery, but the radio operator is the only specialist that really adds much value even if the player never controls them, unlike say engineer or at gunner, which more or less just act like rifleman if you don’t swap to them and spend time making use of their unique tools. Radio just asks for a few seconds every once in awhile for their full effect, so it makes some sense that when you are using them directly, they aren’t quite as good as other soldiers.
Not that I would be particularly opposed to it being changed, I just think that’s the sort of reasoning behind it.
Well to be precise, it’s in the BACPACK slot… even if the secondary weapon gets removed, there would still be no place for a backpack when a radio is equipped.
However your question raises another one: is the single ammo pouch so big it should use up the whole backpack slot for itself? Perhaps not…
As it is now, I consider the second rifle… as a large ammo pouch since any riffle comes with 30 rounds.
For me personally, I always get salty when I realize that a large backpack is kinda useless, because by the idea, those 4 free spots would be more useful to me, for let’s say, explosives, rather than only medic kits or tools ect.
I like having a “dedicated medic” in my squads a trooper with 4 kits is handy at filling up your hp bar if you’re wounded. Sadly I think the fast heal and heal more per kit perks don’t work when bots heal you, even if they do have those perks…
I think inventory in general needs a looking at, maybe headgear too
why not be able to put your ammo pouch in a spare inventory slot on your large backpack
Essentially no one is really satisfied with the current equipment layout. It needs to be updated and I really hope it is before the game leaves beta
this is my usual loadout for my engineer so if anyone’s ever playing with me with a tank give me a shout. but I would love to have 2 tool kits a medkit and a small ammo pouch
I would like to carry that and a small ammo pouch. Maybe be able to have a small pack and a small pouch but neither of the large ones? Idk theres alot of things they could do
I don’t quite agree.
The area for the radio is the same as for backpacks. You can’t bring a radio and a backpack, both go on your back, so that it takes that slot makes sense.
This is just a “I want to carry more grenades” but for a guy who is not really supposed to be in the Frontline, but rather calling artillery strikes/smoke
