Move the Panzer IV/70 (A) to BR3

This thing having the same BR as Panther(which is BR 4) is a joke.
There’s a very good reason that in WT this thing sits at even lower BR than the Jagdpanzer 4 with L/43 gun.

I think we can suggest blowing up the guardrails of this bridge.

By the way, what do you think of the short-barreled Jagdpanzer IV with no vertical armor? Is it also suitable for BR3 matches?

According to most players here - it would be too well armored for BR3.

Long barreled Jagdpanzer IV L70 has just 20mm more armor and is already almost impossible to punch through in BR4.

That’s not true tho, IIRC more people voted yes for moving it to BR 3 than no.

Looking at it again, the post actually made by you, no?

If you ask me, i think it is reasonably armored but not overly armored on BR 3. All BR 3 infantry hand held AT weapons can penetrate the sloped frontal armor, it will provide a good protection against enemy medium tanks but at the same time TD gun on the same BR such as 76mm from M18 and M10 will have no problem going thru it.

For being a casemated TD i think that’s a reasonable protection to have since the gun it has is basically just a 75mm gun from Panzer 4 H. The only issue i can think of it is that when Soviet fights it, soviet doesn’t have a gun with high penetration on low BR(There’s KV-2 but it’s not exactly penetrating it with AP so i’ll leave that one)but then again, they have the most well armored tanks on BR 3 out of all 4 factions such as T-34E and KV-1 so i think it’s sort of fair in the end.

Or perhaps T-34 57 able to penetrate it. Maybe. I haven’t tested it yet so once i get home i shall conduct a test.

The T-34/57 can definitely penetrate the front armor of the short-barreled Jagdpanzer IV. That said, you’re right — if this vehicle gets moved down a battle rating, quite a few tanks will struggle to pen it.

To balance things out, we could bring the open-top SU-85A and SU-85 down to BR 2/3. Frankly, the Soviet side currently has excessive firepower while German vehicles lack adequate armor. Many players feel Soviet firepower at BR 3 has no proper counterplay. Even the KV-2 can only get overpressure damage on this tank by aiming at the sloped roof above the driver’s compartment below the gun barrel, which makes it rather awkward to fight.

I’ve been advocating to lower this tank to BR 3. Once that’s done, we can also push for the better-armored German Sturmtiger and ISU-152 to be placed at BR 3 in the future.

Yes, I made that post out of frustration that both Jagdpanzer versions were pointless.

Now that L70 is BR4, I dont care that much about L48 being “just a grind through”, especially since L70 is more Iconic.

That being said, as many have pointed out, a potential Hetzer might fill BR3 better because of its much weaker - almost pathetic structure thickness, while still having the same frontal armor of Jagdpanzer IV L48.

Not to mention various STUG versions like Stuh42 could fit much better into BR3 anyways.

Okay that’s understandable. Altho there’s one thing that needs to be corrected. Hetzer is even more well protected when it comes to the frontal protection against enemy tanks as it has 60mm frontal armor sloped in 60 degree which means that even 85mm from T-34 85 and 76mm gun from US tanks will have huge problem going thru it while Jagdpanzer 4 L/48 got 60mm frontal armor sloped in 50 degree IIRC which is much less protective than that of Hetzer.

You might be right about that.

It will likely be a long wait. This tank is well-suited for high-tier squads and could be sold for a limited time as seen in War Thunder. The Panzer IV/75 can also be placed at BR3, balanced with strong penetration and weak armor. These vehicles have received no updates since the map merge, which is a real shame.
