Move the Fw 190 A-1 to BR1

The FW 190 A-1 is a fighter currently ranked at BR2, however it is completely obsolete and overtiered. On the same BR, the upgraded A-4 version has no real huge downsides in comparison for a much better set of guns. To show why I think this can go to BR1, I’ll compare it to an existing BR1 fighter, the BF 109 E7/U2.

Flight characteristics

One of the notable advantages the FW has of the BF 109 is speed. While the BF109’s max speed is 612 Kph, the 190 goes to 707 Kph. Outside of this though, it is noticably worse. It’s turn speed is 18.8~ seconds compared to 16.4, and climb rate is a bit worse as well at 21.9°/s compared to 23.8°/s. The roll rate and general handling of the FW series is also notoriously broken, resulting in it often being a pain to use.

guns

The guns are the main place that the FW takes the advantage over the 109. It has the same set of two 20mmMG FF/M cannons, but there are 180 rounds total compared to the 120 of the 109. The secondary 7.92mm MG17s are also stronger, having 4 guns with 3800 rounds instead of 2 with 2000 rounds.

armament

The FW has absolutely nothing in terms of armament, so it becomes completely useless the second there are no enemy planes in the sky because of it’s inability to strike ground targets. The 109 however, does quite well in this area. It has four 50kg bombs, and while not the most powerful on their own, they can do a decent bit of damage considering there are four of them.

So to summarize it’s overall performance against the BF 109 E7/U2:

  • Decently faster, but otherwise inferior flight characteristics
  • Better guns with a decent amount more ammunition
  • No external armament, so it is next to useless against ground targets

Considering these, I think that it would be fine to move this plane to BR1, where it would me more viable to use than in it’s current position.

I’m waiting for this having more BR I options for Germany is good since in the TT there is only one option now that is worth it.

Fw190A-1and Fw190A-4 are very useless in enlisted.They don’t have bombs or good air fighting performance.If developer don’t improve their performance or increase bombs and rockets, they are almost rubbish.

Hmm, just thinking about it. If both the 20mm and 15mm autocannons get moved up to BR 1, would their combined firepower be enough to take out all Soviet and Allied tanks? If that’s the case, other nations could also get nerfed aircraft to counter them. Its armament seems pretty much on par with the Il-2-37.

I can say for sure that at least Soviet have this kind of airplanes on BR 1 already if not the best ones.
MiG-3 comes with nose mounted 2x ShVAK cannons with 400 rnds of ammunition that shreds all BR 1 tanks it would faces. Hurricane Mk IIB also comes with 2x ShVAK cannons and 2x 12.7mm Berezin UBK as well as 6x AP rockets. There’s also premium LaGG-3-34 with 37mm NS-37 cannon.
