The Fw 190 A-1 is a BR2 fighter in the German tech tree, and is rather pointless on that BR. It’s armament consists of two MG FF/M cannons with 180 rounds and four 7.92mm machine guns with 3,200 rounds and no external ordinance, and also has a notoriously bad flight performance. Compared to the Bf 109 E7/U2, which has only 60 rounds less for the 20mm cannons and two less 7.92 machine guns, it has a much better flight performance and has four 50kg bombs, which makes it better than the Fw 190 in the majority of situations. The 190 A-1 is also on the same BR as the 190 A-4, which is just a straight up improvement, replacing a pair of the weak 7.92s with two 20mm MG151s with 500 rounds, which outclasses the 190 A-1 by far. I think moving this to BR1 wouldn’t be disruptive to balance and be a common sense decision.

As a german pilot, after transitioning to the americans cannons are fucking godsends. 50 cals dont do anything.
The cannons are good, but that reason alone isn’t enough to keep it on BR2. The guns are basically the same as the BF 109 E7/U2 but with more ammo, and in exchange has one of the worst flight performances in game and absolutely no payload at all.
I think it’s a worth pay off. Plus the FW-190 is a boom and zoom aircraft. It has a really good top speed but poor maneuverability and poor energy retention. Basically do not treat this like a BF-109
It does have a different play style, but even when you do it like that, it just is not worth it on BR2 when it is otherwise almost identical to a BR1 fighter that has much better general stats. If it’s on BR1, you can use this as a contrast to the Bf 109 E7/U2 if you wanted with trade offs. Having no armament on a plane and the guns not being able to destroy tanks makes it plain awful, take the Bf 109 F4 Trop for example. and on BR2, there is the IAR-81C, which is so much better a choice, with similar guns (more ammunition and a better model of the 20mms), a very strong offensive armament compared to none at all (two 50kgs and one 250kg), and a much better turn time. Not to mention, there is already a much, much better FW 190 at Br2, the A-4. It has, in addition to two of the same 20mm cannons on the A-4, two extra 20mm MG 151s with 500 rounds, and has just about the same flight performance of the A-1.
