There are currently a group of rifles on BR2 that are less powerful than other options avaliable at the same BR and more similar to those below them, and this is due to other types of rifles getting more powerful and these not getting improvement. These are the average capacity rifles without the feature to aim between shots, of which consists of the: Type 99 Early, Mas 36, M1917 Enfield, and prewar K98k. While they are usable in their current form, they are more akin to BR1 rifles than other BR2 rifles. These rifles are at most 6 RPM faster than similar BR1 rifles (and the type 99 early even slower than most BR1 Japanese rifles), so if they were moved down balance would not be hurt. They lag behind in comparison to other types of rifles with much higher rates of fire (Semi autos like the Federov, M1 carbine (with ROF buff soon), Armaguerra, Type Otsu, Kretz P13, ect.), can aim between shots (SMLE mk3 and 4, Mannlicher 1895, Ross rifle, Winchester), or with larger capacity letting them fight longer (Trench mag K98, trench mag G98, springfield air service, SMLE mark 3 and 4, VG.2). I think that moving these rifles to BR1 will let them have new use along with their more similar counterparts that have the same features and similar rates of fire without being too strong, and leaving plenty of rifles left on BR2 to use.
Should all 5-6 round bolt action rifles without the aiming between shots feature be moved to BR1?
I guess so, but Japan could get a new BA for BR2, I think there was a suggestion someone made for Japan getting a Dutch Mannlicher, which could solve that issue. And besides, both the Type 99 with the flags and the paratrooper version are BR1 already.
Would it really matter if it was dropped to BR1 since it would still be available for use in BR2? Actually, nothing would change other then it also being available to use in BR1.
Even just to have an option other than Springfield for BR I Allies (M1917 Enfield) and Mas 36 instead of Gewehr or Kar98k for Axis. (never liked the Kar98, iron sights are too ‘cluttered’. Pre-war version is okay.)
I initially voted no but I only really disagree with the downtiering the pre-war k98 because i’d rather see it buffed and stay in br2 than overshadow the k98 already in br 1. I’ve been thinking about making a post about the MAS 36 and the 1917 Enfield for a while because the Enfield is just a worse version of the USMC Springfield in br1 (worse sights and no bayonet), the MAS doesn’t quite hack it in br2 while the Type 99 is just straight up bad.
What constitutes a br1 and br2 boltie has been kinda muddied over time. I’d like to see bolt actions in general get a balance pass over to better delineate them.
