Every class represent a different type of soldier with a specific job. Riflemen are infantry, Engineers are Engineers, they’re all pretty self-explanatory, we all know. As in real life every soldier has a specific role and training.
While we do have the APC squad that represent Motorized/ Mechanized Infantry, we don’t actually have a Motorized/Mechanized Infantry class. We just have the vehicle’s driver and the assortment of other classes we can add. I think we should have an actual Motorized/Mechanized Infantry Class
Motorized/ Mechanized Infantry were distinguished units with unique training. They had to train how to properly dismount from moving vehicles, firing their weapons while riding in a moving vehicle, and know basic vehicle maintenance. German Panzergrenadiers were regarded as elite units. The point is these troops were a little more than just infantry riding in a truck
Paratrooper is a distinguished class because they were. Motorcycle infantry were a distinguished unit. If Marines were added they would be a distinguished unit. Should we make Paratroopers all just riflemen? They are more than just regular Riflemen. So Motorized/ Mechanized Infantry should be the same
The “APC” Infantry would be the default class of the APC squad. The “APC Driver” class could be removed and a new class added, or to save time it could be renamed and remade into the APC Infantry class that would be the basic units of the squad filling the spots of the driver and Riflemen. Other classes can still be added to the squad like Machine Gunners, Snipers, etc. So you understand better, instead of by default having a Driver and Riflemen, you would have all APC Infantry
What would differentiate APC Infantry from other classes? Do they get dismount speed or is there any other reason one would use them other than flavour?
First it’s about historical precedent as Motorized soldiers were distinguished units separate from foot infantry. We have Motorcycle Infantry that were a distinguished unit so APC should also. Paratroopers, Marines, Guerillas are distinguished classes even though in real life they primarily used the same rifles as standard infantry, but it’s about their special role and training. They’re supposed to be their own class. So if Riflemen are standard foot infantry then Motorized should be its own unit too.
They could certainly get any little buffs the devs want to give them. My main point is just about organization.
Also they could be like Riders, Guerillas, and Paratroopers in that they can use both rifles and assault weapons
Paratrooper gets to be a class
Guerilla (Commando) gets to be a class
Motorcycle gets to be a class
We just got a Saboteur Spy class
Marine and Glider Infantry and who knows what else certainly will get to be their own class
What’s the problem with a true Motorized Infantry class. They should’ve made it in the first place when the class was first added
It’s a crime that Paratroopers were made a gated class in the first place! All classes should be in the RT. All factions should get customizable Paratroopers
Sorry, this is not Call of Duty. Paratroopers can only be named after combat units from various countries in World War II history, not some randomly made-up DIY paratrooper.
Technically yes and technically no. Sure at the end of day you’re just a guy with a rifle, but they were distinct services/ units. That’s why there were dedicated Motorized divisions and standard foot infantry
On paper Paratroopers and Marines are riflemen. They are structured basically the same as a standard infantry squad with a squad leader, machine Gunner, and riflemen. But they have unique training and roles thus they are a distinct class. So Motorized infantry should as well. They’re their own branch
Motorized and Mechanized Infantry basically were the same except Motorized used trucks and Mechanized used armored tracked vehicles, but I find it’s less tedious that we just have one APC squad/class that covers both. I doubt they’d go through the trouble to make 2 different APC classes since it’s just a difference in what vehicle they used.
On another note I was thinking maybe they could change the “Rider” to Biker and name my idea class Rider instead, since they are infantry that ride vehicles. It’s a good name because APC Infantry may not roll off the tongue that well.
