I would like to point out that the M-38 carbine was never made to fit a bayonet. The front sight is connected to the barrel by a ring that the front signt sits on top of and this would block the standard bayonet for the M-9130 from fitting the M-38 carbine. I am not saying the bayonet option should be removed for the carbine but its something to think about.
