Mortars and other explosive things falling from the sky are useless!

I stand to this point, because i witnessed way too many times, how players used these assets and failed misserably to even damage the enemy.

I know, that Mortars, Artillery and Bombing runs can be effective, even devastating to the enemy team, i experienced it myself and witnessed other players doing it.

But, it feels too early for new players to get these assets, especially when the team rarely marks !Anything! at all to be used as some way of targeting at the right spots. Way too many times do i see artillery/bombing markers put on the cap point, that is usually INSIDE a building, ignoring the fact that the point just appeared and the route, the enemy has to take to get to the point.

Also are Bombing calls insufficent. Yes, it covers a big area and deals big damage, but if enemy planes are in the air and the enemy has more than plenty hiding spots to cover from the bombs, then it is clear how wasted it is and the radio operator wasted too much time of other radios and their own, pretty much hindering the own team.

And the mortars, oh god the freaking newb mortars. To experienced mortar users, good on ya for doing proper damage to enemy infantry, that are in the OPEN. But i’m getting dissapointed, when new players are taking the mortars, wasting spawn points and ammo if they happen to get their newbie fingers on a ammo crate.

We really need to introduce a “Must had training first” check for each new unlocked class before unlocking for matches.

it’s a gambling mechanic

and as such games are loving it, because it’s what works on addicting players

they get excited when the mortar finally hits the jackpot and hits a squad

what they don’t consider is how many mortars they had to blindly fire before getting a good hit

and finishing a match on the lower end of the leaderboards because clearly the gambling didn’t pay off

the mortars were nerfed into oblivion, they are now just a noob trap and nothing else

however aircraft are not the same thing, they can be very consistent in the hands of an experienced and knowledgeable skilled pilot

radio was also nerfed into oblivion, but it has its moments and can contribute if well applied, even as just a side extra to any squad

Oh, didn’t you read the news about the Aircrafts? They are getting their payloads nerfed, which means smaller bombs and less splash damage from rockets. Which in turn begs the question when we get bombing sights.

And i don’t mind if someone has an extra radio for more support, but it does hinder the more experienced radio users and Radio squads, who have a smaller cooldown, to make proper call ins for better effect. I even have a sniper and engineer in my Radio squad to proberly mark enemy spots and build stuff to support, so my Radio squad can help the team.

But these mortar squads have one mortar and 3 engineers, spamming ammo boxes for themself and wasting the team resources, its almost sad to see these mortar “nests” that does nothing.

And besides, i didn’t called out Player Aircraft, i meant the Radio Bombing Runs, which call in 5 bombers, which direction you can’t control and must hope, that not an enemy pilot gets into the air and shoots these bombers down before dropping. That is a noob trap too, as Artillery is faster and can’t be stopped, yes, smaller area but it is atleast a safe call.

Mortar squads are niche but can be very helpful. I don’t rely on team marks, i just use binoculars.

Easiest way to take out deep rallies

binoculars… man, i really sucks. i don’t even think to use those!

keep spitting out hints and tips on how to use mortars and other indirect attack thingies please!

So, you mark your own locations and send mortars to them?

Correct! That as well as a few other uses. Such as spotting snipers in the trees to pin down or take out. Additionally it can be helpful to mark distant and hidden tanks with binos so you or your team has a better sight on them
