More independent AI

I know AI is work in progress and it’s supposed to get better as the playtest progresses, but I wish the AI would be more independent and capable of fighting on their own.

  1. I’d the AI to take cover whenever they run into enemy or get shot at. Way too many times I’d get killed as a player and my entire squad would just follow my to their deaths before I even had a chance to switch characters.
  2. I wish AI was actually capable of killing other units. Maybe it’s just my perception, but it feels like AI doesn’t kill anyone on their own. I’ve seen squads of enemy soldiers walk past my squad like nothing or even a single enemy guy rush into my squad and melee kill my entire squad just because AI dudes didn’t react.
  3. Allow AI to use grenades and vehicles. For example, if I’m in a tank as a commander, I’d like my gunner to fire on his own. And when I’m in a squad and I see bunched up enemy squads, I’d like my guys to throw grenades. Maybe even go for vehicle kills without being ordered to.
  4. I know there were already suggestions for more orders, but I’d like better implementation for the simple guard this spot or this position order. Like, the squad should not bunch up and sit in a single spot while I as a player go around and do all the fighting, I wish the AI would spread out, get into defensive positions and even move around if under attack.

AI intelligence seems to scale with the level of your soldiers. For example, my 4* troopers seem to be more intelligent than my 1* troopers. It does somewhat suck that you have to use the low level troops to obtain higher level troops, but that’s a story for another time.

Furthermore, these AI have machine learning, they definitely have already improved a lot compared to the beginning of this test, 2 weeks ago.

Even players often misuse grenades, so that’s not much of an issue for me. Responsiveness, pathing, healing/reloading when needed, those are important to me
