As soon as automatic weapons are being unlocked, everyone WILL try to get rid of them bolt actions as soon as possible.
One thing to give more reason to use this class of weapon would be an even greater damage boost for the upgraded versions. (maybe exclude the starting rifle)
If a bolt action would “kill” your enemy reliably instead of downing him, it would make these weapons useful and thus increasing the diversity of weapons being used.
(as well as creating a more believable WW2 experience with less auto guns)
Hmm, I don’t mind automatics and semi-automatics being overall better than bolt-action rifles. I mean they should be. Would be weird and gamey to strengthen them just for the sake of balance. They already are slightly better in some areas (damage and recoil) and more would be too much. I still like using them and will keep them around. They just “feel” good. With improved firing rate through upgrades and perks, bolt-action rifles are super fun and can give machine guns a run for their money at medium and long ranges.
I will NEVER give up my bolt actions, NEVER!!! I put a funny grenade launcher device on them if needs be. Autos are good, but from very far they don’t mean much. It also depends on the campaign I suppose: In moscow there’s alot of open terrain, in wich bolt actions are king. In Berlin the meta is different and it’s where smgs shine…
On another note, a fully upgraded bolt action is very oftentimes a ohk weapon. Unless you shoot arms or legs in wich case it’s a down.
As far as I noticed, a guaranteed kill occurs if 13 damage or more is dealt at once, provided that the target does not use the perk for + 35% HP. This can be seen in the example of such weapons as Berdanka, full SVT, PTRS, PTRD and others.
Its actually 15 damage for a guaranteed kill if the enemy is on full health. Base HP is 10. Your “downed” HP is 5 points. Any damage dealt after base will affect your downed HP. This pool actually works as a probability of being OHK’ed. So if you do 13 damage to a character with 10 HP. You will do 3 HP of damage to the down pool. Which gives a 60% chance of that bullet being a OHK.
If that’s the case, even the weakest bolt action carbine can achieve ohk (up close) I don’t know, I never had any troubles with bolt actions yet. As such I hope DarkFlow WON’T play with bolt actions values (leaving them as is won’t risk breaking them)
So pretty much damage inflicted first has to eat through the 10 base HP. Once its done that, all leftover damage will be divided by the 5 HP of the down pool. So 1 dmg is 20%, 2 is 40%, and so on all the way up to 5+ being a guaranteed OHK.
I dont see why not, if its hit time is balanced as currently at balls touching range the knife is actually more viable weapon than some low tier smg’s. Tbh a minor adjustment to knife wouldnt hurt either.
