More construction options for engineers

Engineers I think have a lot of potential that isn’t quite utilised.
Currently, they act as glorified AA with some basic area denial in the form of tank traps and sandbags, of which I’ve only seen useful as blockades to the entrances of cap zones.

I’m curious as to if there are any other plans for engineers in terms of building options, because the current selection feels a bit lackluster, and i’m wondering if others are feeling the same

Here are some personal ideas that came to mind:

  • an AT gun. Good at locking down a narrow area with a selection of AP, and maybe even HE ammo.
  • A deployable MG might be interesting to see, a powerful but unwieldy gun that is susceptible to a simple flank or sniper,
  • Even something like an ammo restock area would be an interesting idea to help directly support the team in a long haul

I’m curious to see what others think about this, so please discuss below.

Deplyable MG seems to be a bad idea as it would basically be uncounterable by infantry or it would have to be so limited as being unpracticable. Other option might be that there could be team limit on them. thus limiting spaming of it.

i’m full for an idea of somekind of AT gun deplyable in the game as it would give any team proper way of defending againsts spamming of tanks while not being overpawered. Other option might be creating separate class that only can construct at guns, thus limiting necessity of engineer in the squad- as they are very op if used corecttly.

love the idea of ammo restock but there should be limitation as it could be too op if placed in easly defended areas like upper floor at c in conquest city map. Might be good to give this ability to some other class than engi as it would create neccesity for his existance in the match.

I like the MG idea because its the most important gun in the battlefield, and is actually something that you could carry around and place somewhere unlike a 1,5 ton Flak contraption.

The MG should be breakable like in Cuisine Royale, requiring only a few rifle hits to destroy.

Other engineer kit proposals:

-Possibility to punch holes into buildings, like a 20x30cm firing slot, would be cool if you’d need to soften the spot up with a dozen of rifle shots and the bang it with a hammer

-Foxholes

-Barbed wire obstacles

-AT-mines

All of the stuff i mentioned above are basic skills for every combatant, so its nothing unrealistic like spawning a Flak gun inside an attic

I like the idea, but I also think that these should come as like schematics that would take up backpack slots for the engineer, to not make them OP and making you choose among the buildings.

just steal everthing from squad, perfect setup they got.

What if we separate engineer to two distinct classes - Engineer and altileryman? that way engi’s would be limited to building sandbag walls headhogs and for example some sort of pillowbox (counter aginst Bombers and altilery - NO PORTHOLES) while altyleryman would have a wrench with AT guns, AA emplacments and HMG "nest with very limited cone of fire (like .50 cal, mg42 on a tripod with no recoil, dshk, and vickers mmg or vickers K). Only downside would be NECESITY of reduction of minimal gun depression to like 5* while forcing it to be level so it cant be used against infantry.

well mg42 that engineer can build should have mg42 with scope. 30 cal for allies would have water jacket to stop over heating.

As far as I am aware, the MG-42 never featured a scope.

What if Engineers could equip different build load outs, in the form of different construction hammers.

Like for example, they could sacrifice their AA gun for a mounted MG, or an AT gun. Of course you can have multiple engineers in the engineer squad but this would prevent any one engineer from becoming an everything class.

isn’t that just more elaborate gunsight? i doubt that i features any magnification- just quicker adjustment of the range/ testing sight for checking weather the gun is zeroed corectly or testing rack for mg’s. I might be wrong but that shight’s construction seem to to built for this purpose, as back then to get any significant magnification.

Also I never seen this tripod. looks a bit flimsy. could you give me a source of this picture? It rised my interest. (i’m a bit of the gun nut)

I believe that is an indirect fire gun sight if that is the tripod I think it is.

Thats some WWI stuff
