I love Enlisted and want it to have a long prosperous future. Unfortunately most methods of monetization generally involve nickle & diming players and souring the game experience by deliberately creating problems so that the solution can be sold at a price. I propose a better alternative multi-branched system that involves cosmetics.
Enlisted has a item store featuring cosmetic items that are applicable to the games theme (historically relevant, battle relevant(battle damage, wear & tear etc.), soldier personality relevant(kill counter markings etc.), weapon personalization)
This store is periodically updated with new items some can be permanent others can be time limited
Periodic Twitch drops both markets the game to broader audiences and allows free to play players the ability to get free cosmetics
Cosmetic sets could be a thing either paid or as Twitch drops or both
Battletasks or in game missions or achievements could reward players with cosmetics and status (Sea of Thieves)
There could potentially be a marketplace where players can buy and sell time limited cosmetics as there is in Rust
This system caters to all parties, it helps monetize the game, paid players get cosmetics, free players get cosmetics, the game is marketed to audiences, the game itself will look even better on the battlefield and it could also add even more gameplay to the game.
I’d be down, if they pull a lot of the P2Progress monetization that’s already in the game. I’m not willing to tolerate a bunch of useless cosmetic junk and still have the monetization problem we’ve got, that’s only gotten worse.
Yeah but they would make less money. Its a fool’s errand to try to get the devs to change monetisation - its the gaijin superiors who are in control here. I wouldn’t be surprised if devs hate this as much as we do - they’re the ones who have to feel the backlash everytime gajin tries to squeeze us for fucking pennies.
Yes I agree. We need monetization systems that improve the overall experience and add to it. Right now theres a bit of nickle & diming with terrible lottery systems.
No they wouldnt. Rust and Sea of Thieves are perfect examples. Rust makes boatloads of money from cosmetics, so much so theres gambling sites dedicated to it.
Pay to progress is fine, within reasonable limits. Premium account xp bonus, daily reward xp bonus, bronze random weapons, pay to get them for sure is fine.
Old soldier bronze orders were fine, but now you have to pay to get new ones as fast as you can unlock the slots, even with a standard account.
And, the biggest problem for me, any trust fund gamer nerd can come in and drop as much money as they want to skip basically the entire grind. That’s where we cross the line from pay to progress into pay to win territory.
i have just posted a suggestion about the games currency that should alleviate your first two issues. Possible SILVER ORDER and currency SOLUTION. I disagree with you on the p2w aspect however for a couple of reasons.
First because this game is essentially a one shot kill game, strategy will always have and advantage over outright skill especially with the multitude of equipment variables. In essence theres counters to everything you just need the experience to identify it and apply it. Now ofcourse theres nuance here with balancing but in general this is the case.
Secondly, your argument that p2w players can skip the grind is undone by the fact that anyone who plays at least twice as long as a casual essentially achieves the same effect. The most a paying player can accelerate the grind is 3x (premium account + 3 squads of premium soldiers). So any f2p player who plays at least 2-3 times as long as a casual achieves the same effect. Not to mention that paying players doesnt equal hardcore players, they might only play a couple of hours a week. Theres a lot of variables.
Also if they could add skins for squads that apply the same xp bonus as premium squads would be amazing + look cool. I would 100% prefer to buy that over premium squads
This was sort of mentioned in your latest state of the game stream but it’s been an idea I’ve thought of for a while.
This would help a lot with maxing out hard to level squads like sniper 3s which take like 23k xp per squad upgrade.
I like this idea but they also need to in general make any and all available premium content much cheaper. There is no way I’m paying £45 for 1 squad for 1 campaign and one side.
Theyre just not worth their current price point in general value. Squads of soldiers should be like like 5 to ÂŁ10 vehicles 15 to ÂŁ20. Because of the campaign separation that should decrease their value. Also premium squads are weaker than full levelled campaign squads in general.
Except the premium jumbo with the sandbags hiding the mg port that should be removed as its the only true example of p2w squad. IMO.
Yeah i absolutely love this idea. It’d be better for both players and the devs. I know so many players that would gladly pay for different historically accurate uniforms
