Just started playing tanker for Allies in Normandy campaign… really never played it much. The most difficult tank to fight is… Panzer III while I’m in a jumbo… they keep kicking my butt. I have zero issues with ANY other German tank. Is this expected behavior? From my historical research/reading (amatuer historian), the Panzer III should not be able to consistently defeat a Jumbo with shots to frontal armor.

if you notice the panzer 3 H has additional armor in front and on the tracks you have to hit the weak point in the side to eliminate it

pz3 its the way to go in normandy. the slow firing pz4 have no place (imo) in the batlefield .
fast (enough) flank machine. one reason why premium pz3 was so worth in my eyes. its a killing machine!
i had fun flanking and killing jumbos with it (rare ocasion i did kill them, but when i did, boy oh boy was such a fun moment knocking down a far superior tank with just a pz3.
I guess the answer is play balance…
50 KWK L42 can pen max armor of ~53mm at 100m (according to listings I find)
Jumbo has 101mm of frontal (yes, some of it is applique armor) and 76mm of side armor (some of it is applique).
If the III H shoots from the front… it shouldn’t be able to pen the Jumbo. I’ve had it done to me at least 3 times today … III H shot me in the front armor from anywhere from 10m to 150-200m.
