Missiles on the MiG‑3

I propose adding rockets to the MiG‑3 fighter.

The translation may be inaccurate.

"The pre‑war rejection of rocket armament was not a whim of the command. After all, the training use of aircraft equipped with RO‑82 in winter and spring 1941 showed that the launchers reduced the aircraft’s speed by 10 km/h, and with rockets the speed dropped by 15 km/h; moreover, the accuracy of firing rockets from a high‑speed aircraft was minimal. This explains the pre‑war decision of the leadership. However, the realities of war make their own adjustments, and the low striking power of the small–caliber ShKAS “sewing machines” literally forced the MiG pilots to recall missile weapons - albeit less accurate than their machine guns, but with a high damaging effect. Therefore, the factory production of MiGs with missile weapons was resumed, and in combat units on existing early-series aircraft, such weapons were restored using the electrics and components remaining on these machines from previous installations that had been removed before the war.

Typically, the missile battery that was installed on MiGs at the factory consisted of two holders, each of which held three rockets attached to tubular guides. However, in combat units, older, simplified guide rails for two or three rockets were sometimes also installed. Depending on the task at hand, rockets of different purposes were used: standard RS‑82, incendiary ZRO‑82, fragmentation ROS‑82, and in 1942 — also armor‑piercing RBS‑82. The mounting of the rails, in addition to the rockets, made it possible to install external fuel tanks with a capacity of 80 liters each."

Hope they give its rockets since its very cool plane sadly a bit forgotten. However I don’t remember did the Mig-3 -34 variant could carry rockets since it was interceptor.

Yeah, I would love to have RS-82 rockets on the MiG, since those planes really lack anti-infantry capacity and carry too low ammo

Write in English or go back to Russian forum.

Also, I don’t see any mention of an uptier… not only does their biplane have rockets but that’s also having a normal prop plane with rockets in BR1.

Seems unbalanced to me… not interested until Germany gets more than the A8 with rockets in BR2 and 5.
