Strategic bombing was primarily used against enemy cities, infrastructure, and industry but yet here we have it in game providing close air support on the frontline. Sure it is a little unrealistic but we have it in game, because it is cool and useful. So missiles are basically the same
They do not disrupt the balance, they are extremely vulnerable
No, if you’re referring to a third-person real-time strategy game like Company of Heroes, then missiles as strategic support weapons are indeed cool. But this is Enlisted, a first-person, realistic WWII historical shooter, so missiles aren’t cool. Furthermore, the presence of missiles severely disrupts the game’s balance. Given that we already have artillery, bombardment, and rapid-fire artillery, why add missiles with such excessive power?
We have strategic bombing runs, so there is nothing wrong with strategic missile strikes
Artillery and Rocket Artillery are immediate support in a small area
Bombing Runs cover a very wide area but need time to reach their targets but they can defend themselves
The Missile Strike has more power than an Artillery Strike and potentially more than a bomber plane but they are a single undefended target
Bombing military targets during a combat engagement counts as air support, not strategic bombing. These planes are not bombing factories or railroads, they’re bombing troops.
On a separate note I have suggested that they change the bombing runs to heavy bomber planes so they can get a little representation and we can see these awesome planes. Also I think they should be buffed a bit in general also
I don’t know if we’ll ever get heavy bombers as playable vehicles
Bombing their rally points, APCs, support guns, and defensives are a little bit strategic in my opinion
Strategic bombing is a systematically organized and executed military attack from the air which can utilize strategic bombers, long- or medium-range missiles, or nuclear-armed fighter-bomber aircraft to attack targets deemed vital to the enemy’s war-making capability. It is a military strategy used in total war with the goal of defeating the enemy by destroying its morale, its economic ability to produce and transport materiel to the theatres of military operations, or both.
Tactical bombing is aerial bombing aimed at targets of immediate military value, such as combatants, military installations, or military equipment. This is in contrast to strategic bombing, or attacking enemy cities and factories to cripple future military production and enemy civilians’ will to support the war effort, to debilitate the enemy’s long-term capacity to wage war.[1] The term "tactical bomber" only refers to a bomberaircraft designed specifically for the primary role of tactical bombing, even though many other types of aircraft ranging from strategic bombers to fighters, interceptors, and helicopters have been used in tactical bombing operations.
There were some instances of heavy bombers doing tactical bombing so there is an excuse to making the Bombing Runs those planes so they can at least be represented. How else are we going to ever see B17s!
I’m also a little partial to them being a playable vehicle class. We have light, medium, and heavy tanks; we have light and medium bombers. We have jet planes. Why not heavy bombers too
