I think this new stamina aiming system is a mistake.
I wondered while playing Stalingrad why that german MG suddenly switches back while firing to the hip-firing mode thinking this would be a bug. Then I tested these MGs on the Training Ground and noticed that whenever you aim your stamina gets depleted FAST and once it’s gone you have to give up your aim.
Not only do I find this new mechanic rather odd - the game simply played itself much better without it. It turns MG troops even more into an inferior class.
You can bypass this by resting your gun on something but not only does this mechanic still not work properly (resting often won’t work immediately/very narrow vision/ sometimes firing into the objects your MG is resting on) you also really have a hard time noticing when your gun is rested and when not.
Then the spray pattern. MGs were incredible inaccurate before but with Stalingrad it takes things over the top. I can only assume that this is to promote horizontal recoil reduction for MG gunners cause once firing it goes all over the place. This makes you require to use some trigger discipline - which is good - unless you can rest your gun somewhere but you should at least be able to fire little bursts in a controlled fashion even while standing.
The new LMG recoil is kind of too much and the bipod system still sucks more dick than me.
Its like when they drastically increased the recoil of the LMG’s in heroes and generals however at least heroes and generals has a better bipod system.
I kinda like it. It’s still possible to fire while standing and hit targets IF you fire really short bursts. You can no longer run and gun with those, (which I find great), because if you do, you’ll use up your stamina pool!
The recoil is VERY high in Stalingrad for lmgs but… It makes sense, those weapons SHOULD be hard to control standing.
I have a tip however for those not knowing already: Your aim is better AND recoil somewhat lower if your stamina bar is full. As it depletes itself, your aim becomes less accurate and recoil much more high, so it’s best to conserve stamina and assault only with a full bar while standing
I meant in the new Stalingrad campaign.
Honestly at this point knifes and grenades are gonna become meta because guns will not hit a the intended target nearly all of the time.
I could live with this for moving (so you have harder time to run + shoot with mg). However at minimum, this needs to be removed for static crouch. If I drop to knee and fire, I should not consume stamina anymore.
Bipod is still crap mechanic and the accuracy reduction means you’re spending around 20 bullets per kill with mg42 in stalingrad. Way too much.
The problem is SMGs squads in this game very much make it play like CoD, hip firing on the run with reliable accuracy at a 1000 rpm and getting pinpoint accurate laser-beam-like full-auto streams of lead out of their guns when they are stationary, hitting targets even over medium distances like that.
So either Darkflow needs to make everything more realistic or it would be preferable if they keep the partially unrealistic but balanced gameplay. Right now we have the worst of both worlds and I’m afraid it makes Machine Gunners so situational, they become even more questionable to use.
ahh but smg have so much damage fall off, that you cant reliably kill though cover or past 40 meters where as LMG’s have the damage fall off of a rifle and can one hit kill at the same ranges of a rifle
so with this up date with a huge nerf to LMGs and a small nerf to SMGs in stalingrad
Yeah but since this game is extremely fast paced, mobile, aggressive, capture focused and full of close combat situations Assaulters are likely the most potent class currently. All while MGs are after that change currently among the most useless with that over the top recoil. And being a stationary target is on top noticeably more dangerous than being a mobile one. Therefor these two aren’t really balanced.
Not to derail this thread into an „Nerf SMG“ one but in my opinion with the right perks and upgrades they are extremely precise also up to 100m+ and especially those with enormeous fire rate and very powerful cartridge loads should be much less controlable.
