Now my perfectly placed rally points don’t matter cause somebody placed one earlier in the open and now the placement of mine doesn’t count and I get spawned in the open or like 50 meters away from the one I placed…
Nobody even asked for that change why did they add it? Another “feature” of the game that makes literally zero sense and does more harm than good.
its worse if you have a great rally point, but your teammate placed one where the AI gets stuck , and you can only select that one.
Even if you build more rallys, doesnt matter, all of them are busted and will make you lose the match : )
yep -.-’ that and the new spawn blocker is a real fucking pain in the ass not saying the old one wasn’t a pain with the proximity spawn blocking abuse but at least you could spawn around an active battle…
Totally agree with you. On the bright side, if you select any of your Engineers, you can destroy friendly rally points just by knifing/shooting at them (do it only if they are cannon fodder for the enemies).
Worse sceanrio: you flank enemy and build spawn on their side of wall, but seconds later some idiot place their spawn outside in the open just to block your “unfair and 100% cheating” rally point.
Agreed, separate spawn points again please. Even if there needs to be a gap between them, its better than not having control over your spawn, and not being able to tell if your own spawn is alive still from spawn screen.
I’m sorry, I don’t understand, what’s the issue? Are the spawn beacons acting funny? If so, I guess I hadn’t noticed. Also, to my knowledge, there’s a cool-down timer to spawn beacons that allow only so many squads in such-and-such a timeframe. I think that’s good, so that if there’s one REALLY good spawn point available, for one a small Army can’t just materialize instantly to overwhelm the enemy, but also it means that just one engineer can’t be all that decisive with just one spawn beacon at a time. Other people who maybe don’t know as good locations, or set up a spawn beacon relatively close but not as close as the one good one, squads can still spawn at that second one so that they’re still closer to the point than they’d be if they selected one of the default spawn points.
So could somebody help explain what this ‘merging rally points’ thing is about, or the 50m away thing? I don’t understand, I was under the impression that the beacons worked well, save for that one time that some scummy engineer quickly destroyed my beacon to replace it with his own, only for me to spot it almost instantly and destroy his beacon before his very eyes for me to put mine back where it was. What a piece of crap thing to do…
If two rally points are within a certain distance of each other, the game plays RNG with which one you spawn at, no matter the point that you’ve selected on the battle map to spawn on.
Ah… I can see that as being annoying. My guess is that they made it that way so that they can still show the totality of the map (including any markers that might be on the outskirts) but to avoid having closely-positions clusters of spawn point icons. If the icons are big, it might be difficult to select the one in particular that you want. If they make the icons small, it might be difficult to see them on the map, or for people with vision issues, perhaps even impossible. I think a fix for that issue, assuming it is an issue, would be for the map to zoom in on the generalized icon which represents 2 or more beacons, and then display where exactly the beacons are since it’s nicely zoomed-in and the same-size icons can be used.
That’s my best guess as to why they did that, anyhow. Also, popular spawn points can sometimes be so popular that you have to wait for your turn to spawn. It may be annoying to be sent to a spawn point that you didn’t select, but at least people putting down more spawn points means less wait time? Though if it’s a difference between safely spawning or being ripped to pieces in the open by a spawn-camper… yeah I wouldn’t mind waiting the extra handful or two of seconds necessary to safely spawn in my squad of braindead idiots.
I’m fine with Rally points doing that; however, it would be nice if you could see a graphic of the overlap.
One thing that drives me nuts though is players placing a Rally Point where the AI gets stuck. An attic full of AI while your team starts having problems is so frustrating. If the Rally point gave up the culprit, I’d report them for griefing.
